Ok, I got into a bit of a debate with someone on another forum who is insisting that my tank temps of 73-74F are too warm for dojos. When I first posted here asking if dojos would work for my tank I posted my temperatures, and no one said anything against it, but perhaps it was overlooked.

If there are no breathing problems, redness around the gills, or other similar symptoms, then there's a possibility of it being neurological damage from an injury. From what I've been reading the erratic upside-down swimming is a very common symptom of neurological problems.

I think you may want to be careful about taking advice from the fish store. I'd never put 40" of fish in a 35g hex.

I started out with my dojos in a 35g hex too. They still use every inch of the tank from top to bottom even with a tall tank. You'll probably want to upgrade to a larger tank and get your dojos some buddies before long though. I only had mine in the hex tank for less than 6 months before they ...

dojo spawning, playing, or bullying?

Every now and then my male dojo starts chasing the chubbier female all over the tank with his head right behind her pectoral fin. The female doesn't look gravid to me, just a normal healthy plumpness. Is this just normal behavior?

I've been wondering about the shop lights too. That's what I have at the moment. Up until now though I've just been using a 25watt fluorescent light bulb (the kind made for regular indoor lamps) with a reflector and my plants have been doing pretty well with just that.

No, it wasn't new staff. I saw the department manager standing near the tanks. I should have had a good talk with him about the condition of those tanks, but I wasn't feeling well... plus the guy kinda gives me the creeps for some reason I can't quite explain. :oops:

New dojo tank

I just got my new 75gal (standard dimensions) tank set up and got everything transfered out of the hex tank I was using yesterday. Those little dojos really do use up every inch of space they're given. :)

I was shopping with my mom at walmart today and we stopped to look at the fish tanks. When we got over there my mom said "look at those cute little fish there, they look like little tigers." I looked over and it was two tanks packed full of tiny clown loaches about 1 1/2" long, no info on the tank ...
