Starsplitter gave you a good start. Get a dark colored gravel 1/16 up to 1/4 inch dia mix that is smooth surfaced. Live plants are preferable, but plastic will suffice. Rock work that can be stacked to provide hide aways. Some good driftwood is good. Completely cycle the tank by either fish or fishl...

PRAZIQANTEL

Re: Posts dealing with skinny disease. A number of posts dealing with skinny disease have recommend using praziqantel as a possible treatment. I found this product (Gel.tek) that contains the "P" .0057% solution. The directions suggest 5 drops per fish twice a day repeat every 24hrs for 3 days. Thes...

How much money will you spend buying fish until you accidentally get some healthy ones? What does that mean?? I have been leery with any type antibiotic. Maracyn so badly crippled one of my marine aquariums that I had to start it over. I am willing to try maracyn in fresh water, but as a last resort.

Thank you for sharing. The video is impressive and well done.
I use a slender stainless steel wire with raw shrimp, fish, and worm cubes and enjoy the frenzy. Nice rainbows.

Sorry to jump your thread. I figured another skinny thread would be redundant. I have a striata that definitely has it. I want to use the suggested maracin treatment, but don't want to harm my tank's bio system. Other than ISO, is there another successful treatment that would not harm the beneficial...

If that fish's eye has been swollen for a year and it has not killed it, it is likely to remain swollen. A parasite or bacterial infection would have worsened over time if not treated. If it were me, I would negociate the price down and get the poor thing. I would try antibiotic food, but not have a...

I won't discuss LFSs on an open forum. Too many people want to play the "my LFS is better than your LFS" game. I belonged to a local forum that spent too much time advertising the attributes of a store and it alienated people and ruined the site.

Thank you for the replies. I have 11 clowns ranging from 2 to 8 inches. I have had good success with them and enjoy their antics. I had not studied on any of the other loaches, but I figured that they would have similar characteristics. There aren't many varieties on the market, so getting mates wil...

I recently rescued two loaches from some less than desirable conditions. (1) botia hymenophysa (banded loach) (1) botia striata (zebra loach) They are a little over 2 in. long but very skinny (undernourished). They have colored up and are actively eating. I have kept clown loaches successfully for m...
