Re: Another Ich Post
"everything I had read pointed to them being very peaceful" I think you're reading at the wrong places. "at this point my esteemed friend on this thread may start screaming " Esteemed? :D My recent experience just emphasizes the need for proper quarantine. But...even if you do it right, proble...

Re: Another Ich Post
I would think it would be beneficial and treat internally. Same as food soaked in fenbedazole. I get it pretty well dissolved with my method so not an issue. The worst I get is a slight film around the water surface edge which I agitate manually.

Re: Another Ich Post
I'm going to order the Flubendazol from the link you recommended (I'm in the U.S.). I filled out a form to initiate the ordering process. It sounds like I do a water change, dose 1/4 tsp. powder dissolved in heated tank water (my tank is 15g long), then wait ten days (really, no water change during...

Re: Gastromyzon ID
Sorry for the loss. Will have a look tonight and consider moving them into an established tank with other hillstreams. It is a risk but other than the skinniness they look pretty good. No skin damage or blotchiness at least... No, don't cut the quarantine short no matter what, you may destroy every...

Re: Gastromyzon ID
They need aufwuchs. IME gastros can be slow to take food, some never do. That looks like a new tank with no algae growth. If you can give them some rocks from a clean established tank to graze on it would help. Put some flat rocks in a container of nitrate rich tank water in the sunlight, maybe on a...

Re: Help building a 20l river manifold
I switched to maxijet powerheads. They have a strainer on the bottom and a nice little sponge made for it. I actually did away with the powerhead in this tank. I now have Aqualclear 50 & 30 HOBs on it with rhinos & sewellia. Jim, I understood you tossed the manifold. But you said I eventually tore o...

Re: Help building a 20l river manifold
I tore the whole thing out long ago Mike. I had an Aquaclear 70 on one end and 2 inlets with large sponges opposite in a 20 long. Too much current for that small tank. I experimented with lesser powerheads and it was better but I found the manifold to be a pia and it took up too much room. Not worth...

Re: Help building a 20l river manifold
I built a manifold river tank in a 20 long and it didn't work well at all. Just not long enough or enough volume. I eventually tore out the manifold and just hung a powerhead on the glass and it was much better. Easier too.

Re: Small clown loach not doing well
I've used Safe-Guard Dog dewormer which is a fenbenadole powder. Most any pet store including petsmart/co should have it. But as Mike has explained it's a terrible mess. Contact Charles and buy some flubendazole. He's always been quick to ship when I needed some. You won't regret having it around. A...
