So, I tested the water ... Tank: pH 6.8 KH 2 GH more than 30 I gave up at that point! "soft water" from my house tap (we have a water softener now, but apparently it's not that soft according to the GH). Oh, I'm not sure how accurate the pH is because I only let it sit 10 minutes before testing. pH ...

Changing water supply to soft water?
Hi, We just got a water softener ... I'm wondering how I need to change my fish keeping habits to keep my loaches happy. Can I use the softened water (it does use salt, but they say not very much) with the loaches, or not? My previous pH was 6.8, which is not that alkaline, but we were having issues...

Hi, I just wanted to let you guys know that this dojo has stopped all of it's strange behavior since around the start of May. I'm wondering if it was subjected to really poor water conditions in transport or something, and that damaged it and made it swim so strangely ... maybe it just took it a lon...

LOL! My 3yr old picked out the sub :) . I had to silicone the bottom shut (it was completely hollow), one day I found the 3 inch pleco, 2 clowns, a kub and a dojo in there! The clowns were getting a tad too big for it, and I had been wondering where all the fish were! Usually the clowns and the kubs...

Strange Dojo Behavior
Hi, I have a golden female Dojo Loach that I have had for about a month. I have also have male brown Dojo that I've had for about 3 months, and another golden female (I think, this one can't decide if the dorsal fin is going to be up or down!) that I got with the first one about a month ago. I did h...

I have 5 Kubs in my tank, one small one is losing his spots and almost has just brown bars. Two large ones have the brown bars with three medium spots in each brown bar, and then other spots. Then the other two large ones have multiple tiny spots in their brown bars, along with the bluish tinged lig...

Wow! I'm amazed he is alive, what a tough fish! I don't know if it would help, but probably extra oxygen might help. If you have extra airstones/tubing and a pump, it would probably be good for him to have added oxygenation in the tank. Other than that, I don't have any ideas ... the only time I've ...

Perhaps the second loach is this? http://www.loaches.com/species-index/misgurnus-mizolepis At Petsmart and Petco, they call these Dojo loaches, but it is not what this site calls a Dojo loach. Both this and what this site calls a Dojo loach are refered to as "weather loaches" though. Anyway, I have ...

Hi, I have only had ich one time since I've been taking care of my own tanks (knocking on wood) ... since something like 1990, and it was recently! Anyway, I have a tank that was only about 6 weeks old, and the values were really similar to yours!!! The Ammonia was 0, the Nitrite was 0, and the Nitr...
