Jeff: This evening is the first time I have logged on in an embarrasingly long time. There was a time when if a day went by when I didn't log on, a search party would have been dispatched:) Sorry to hear you are moving on, you are truly an accomplished aquarist, and have been both an inspiration an...

Man that is a good looking posse if I do say so myself:) I should have moved them upstairs long ago! They have some very good color already considering they were just moved across state lines. Neat markings too, kind of cool seeing how different the adult varieties of rostrata, histrionica and dario...

Mark wrote: I'm extremely pleased that JD's fish got snapped up by a competent fish keeper! Nice looking tank, Shair. What he said! Yeah, you are right. I think I made Shari nervous asking her to take the cronies since they are over a decade old. But once she saw them, that was it. But you guys are...

Very cool!! They should do a lot better in there together instead of 3 different tanks. And, introducing them into a strange tank should avoid territorial issues. The Yoyo has always been dominant, the alpha dog in HER pack! She was raised with angles. She would eat the string of eggs before they we...

Eastern PA and NJ - Take my tanks please

Hello, JD here. I have been into loaches for probably 12 years and as with all good things, this too is coming to an end. I am done with fish tanks after some 2 decades in the hobby, it’s the end of an era. Therefore I am having an every thing must go sale, one of those going out of business deals:)...

Oh Adam, don't let these woman push you around:):):) Just joking. They are right in that the clowns can be hard on the plants, but it can be done. Especially adding CO2. 20ppm was always the recommended maximum. And once you get the plants bubbling, your oxygen levels will be very high. Again, Emma ...

Shari, Does your husband have anything left over from back when he was into it? Like I mentioned earlier, if there is already cheap access to a few lenses, that can be enough to make up your mind. Me, I had Minoltia equipment and switched to a DSLR before Minoltia made one. So I switched all togethe...

Shari, I would never want to discourage someone from furthering their photography hobby, but I just wanted to start by saying that Compacts may be in order here. There are a lot of high end P&Ss like Erik’s 8700 that will take great fish photos and “other things”. You need to evaluate if you want th...

What Mike wrote, very well said.

My first question is why do you want to reduce the hardness?

Short answer no. I mean it will have a small affect, but hardly worth the effort. You will have to constantlly recharge it in salt water. I mean they are a pain in the butt. By the time you get some of the hardness out of the tank you are doing a water change and right back to where you started. JD

Damn, I wish I had the room. I would love to have some of the fish, especially the sids, but I have no room left for the tanks. How many sids do you have? I will see if I know anyone that may be interested. What is your drip dead date?
