Okay, I thought they could be males. 8) I've got the impression that females tend to look a lot fatter than males. At what age do females start to get a larger belly? Do all adult females look like they've swallowed a marble (judging from some photos I've seen)? I guess you can't tell from the littl...

Yoyo family album
In case someone is interested here's my yoyo (botia almorhae) family, in the bossing order. :D There's something I am confused about - are they males or females? Re: Possible cause of flashing
Sorry I missed this post! When I was treating mine, I did a half dose every 24hrs like the treatment stated. A water change was done prior to each treatment, during which one third of the substrate was cleaned, on days I didnt dose, I didn't do water changes. Lights were off for the entire duration...

Re: Possible cause of flashing
Hello, Following moving house I've had a lot of trouble with my yoyos and clowns flashing. Seems they are very sensitive to the water here-nothing else has drastically chnaged in my system other than that- the pH is 7.4 and it is fairly hard here. As they prefer soft acidic water it is obvious they...

I now have started Protozin again. Any suggestions what would be a good dosage? Obviously half a dose because of loaches but do I put half a dose on days 1,2,3,6 once each day or twice a day (as I've seen mentioned here somewhere)? Would it be better to keep lights off while treatment or at least re...

Its side effects include:Sensitivity reactions: Urticaria, rash, pruritus and eosinophilia in White Blood Counts.

Where exactly did you hear this? I have never heard of this, nor has it said anything on any of the dechlorinator bottles I use. As far as I understood, tapwater should always be treated. Has anyone else heard of this? :? Anyhow, when the fish were moved, did they experience any great temp flux's? ...

Thanks. I am only gathering info for others. I am relatively new. Please don't feel like we are or I am questioning your fish keeping abilities. Just gathering info. Sounds like you have done everything right. :) I just lost two large loaches, and I have no idea what happened. Very sad. The rest of...

Do you have a picture of these guys? Could it be fungus? It doesn't look like fungus but I can try taking some photos again (didn't succeed in it when I took the other photos, they are just way too fast). [edit] Here's one of them: http://kuvablogi.com/nayta/iso/img1046257.jpg Bad photo but the gre...

Hi aegolius, Welcome to LOL :D Those are some really good photos  I wouldn't be adding water w/o water conditioner to your tank. The conditioner you add breaks down chlorine/chloramines amongst other chemicals etc that has been added to your tapwater. It is possible that chlorine/chloramines...

Prime is very nice, and cheap. You only use 1 mL per ten gallons (many products are 1 mL per 1-2 gallons). So my 55 uses 5.5 mL of Prime or 25-55 mL of other products. Much cheaper to use Prime and it treats a wider range of water issues. What are your Nitrate readings? How about Ammonia and Nitrit...

no sure what that is but not all water conditioners are equal! Prime is the sure WC. I was using aqua plus and it is basically useless. loaches flashing like mad I don't think it's the water conditioner (tried changing it to Sera Aqutan --> flashing continues. Also tried without water conditioner -...
