Re: Clown Loach Trio Change? Help?

Yes anytime there is some change in your tank - they freak out and will hide for awhile. For me even after a water change they'll hide for about a day. It seems like the larger ones hide more. My largest CL about 8 in hid for about 6 weeks before he started to come out and join the rest of the crowd...

Emma's Grrrr Tank has begun...

Hi, I have a 120 with the laid back loaches such as the clowns, yoyos and queens. I have decided to turn my 75 into an aggressive loach tank that Emma calls the Grrr tank (Tiger Botias) in her article on this site. I now have 5 syn helodes, 5 syn berdmoreis, and about 15 tiger barbs. i would like to...

Thanks bookpage! I noticed you have a group of skunk botias - never seen any in this area - where did you get yours?

Clowns, yoyos and queen botias together

I have a 125 gal with about 25 clowns and 6 yoyos all about (5 in.) (Rainbows and barbs as dithers) - If i introduce 3 Queens (3 in) do you think it would be okay? I have plenty of caves, tubes and hiding places. Just a bit concerned...

Re: Clown Loach feeding problems.

I would definitively get rid of the barbs because i had the same problem. i replaced them with rainbows which works out much better. FYI - I bought a large loach - it took him 4-5 weeks to get acclimated to the tank and come out to join the rest of the crowd.Even when he does its only for a moment. ...

Re: 10 clowns died in 3 days

My loaches are developing the big stomachs also so I used epsom salts so they could literally blow it out of their system. i think it worked but i do admit i think i was overfeeding them a bit so i need to watch that. Now my problem is an outbreak of ich so I am treating them starting tonite by rais...

Me too

I purchased 2 clowns around 5" last year - they were kind of slim and real pale, i was concerned about them not eating but after awhile they got relaxed and started eating. i gave them NLS, Dainichi and shrimp -they are now filled out and very active. These 2 are always fighting but no one gets hurt...

Yeah my 3 largest clowns are always fighting to determine who's the king of the hill. Sometimes its looks nasty but no one gets hurt maybe some scratches. I have 12 so the more the better and the aggression is spread out more.

Re: Clown loaches in Quincy, Illinois

Is there anybody near Quincy, Illinois, USA, looking for more clown loaches? I'm considering letting mine go to somebody with a larger tank. I have 5 happy and healthy clown loaches that are 3 or 4 years old now and about 6 inches long (on average). The plan was always to get (or build) a 6 or 8 fo...

Emma, i live near Chicago, Ill. and its a tradition where money talks (if you know what I mean!) the certificate that is issued claiming that the store adheres to codes might have been accomplished under the table! BTW - a disgruntled employee at PetSmart who got fired went back and poisoned their s...

It is probably a "Chinese Algae Eater." Though it is not a loach and it is not from China. They don't cause too many problems when they are young, but can get agressive when older. The problem is they can develop a taste for the slime coat of fish and suction themselves to the sides of the other fi...

Our PetSmart has some of the nicer fish around,, it is actually surpizing how well their fish are maintained. I feel this is due to the dedication of the staff at this one store than the chain as a whole. The clowns there are robust, large, and rather cheap in comparision to other dealers. I would ...

loach

Great pics! How long did it take for your big guy to reach 9 inches? I had 13 clowns and 2 modestas in a 125. The modestas were too agressive so I had to sell them leaving me with now with just the 13 clowns.
