Oil hands! If you've got hang on the back style filters you can put filter sponge over the intake to keep the loaches from being able to get in or even really close to it. I use this in my fry and grow out tanks often. Also aquarium safe silicon is your friend. You can use it to fill in little nooks...

If you're not going too far, driving the fish over is really not as terrible as you would expect. I moved recently and just used 4 gallon buckets to move all my fish. Secure lids and Glad Press and Seal Wrap kept the car from getting wet at all. We put the buckets on the floor between the back seat ...

Jamie,

See if you can find a local fish club! I thought I was getting great prices in my area until I found a local Aquarium group who hooked me up with their local supplier and I swear I get most of my fish 50 - 75% off what they sell in the shops now.
It's totally the way to go!

I used "play sand" as a substrate - bought at a hardware store and then rinsed, and rinsed, and rinsed. Two large bits of bogwood provide shelter, and there are java ferns an...

Yeah I considered that the Cories might get shut out in the food department. As I said it's only a temperary solution though until more space is available for the little guys (or not so little guys as they may be by then). Maybe the cories can be relocated temperarily into a smaller tank themselves....

New to Yoyos.

I'm sure you've heard this story before: I had a snail problem. A fellow fish keeper gave me pair of little yoyo loaches and said 'hey these will take care of your snail problem'. They didn't take care of the snails (they're far too little) but I have fallen in love with the wriggly little guys. At ...
