Re: surface film on water of estab aquarium

check that on the skimmer attachment- eheim's is a surface skimmer, not a protein skimmer, and from a quick search on the topic, this is not a trivial difference. i'm not too sure it will work for me.

Re: surface film on water of estab aquarium

hm, interesting stuff. although i can't read german, i do not have anything like what i see in those pictures. it is not oil, because it does break apart and stays that way, so that's good to know. who wants an oil slick on their aquarium ?! anyway, i guess my main two concerns were that it was some...

surface film on water of estab aquarium

This is a recent development in a tank that has seen no significant changes in several years. It is a planted 75 gal w/ 3 clowns and 3 albino plecos, one bank of T5 lighting. In the last 3 weeks or so there's been a protein? oily? unknown?? film on the surface of the water, not thick by any means, b...

Re: How old is your oldest Loach?

I've had my clowns 22 years in my current home, moved them from a house I rented for 2 years, and to there I moved them from another house I lived in for 5 years - I can't remember exactly when I got them while living in that first house, so they are at least 24 + however long I had them in the firs...

Do you have two independent thermometers in the tank to verify water temperature? Does that heater you have there have a minimum water level mark and is it submerged in water to that mark? Probably these are stupid questions, but the only time I ever had a fish jump out it was water temperature, and...

Re: Bad petshops for fish

These places have housewives and teenagers that dont know anything about fish! ? ... uh, nevermind ... It does seem like recently the shall we say quality / dependability of service from the major carriers has slipped. I had an experience with UPS in the last month that has me limiting all ...

I don't have sand in my tank, but I always thought it would be nice... I'm just wondering, are you able to vacuum the substrate like you can with gravel?

I just had a really bad scare, too. Two of my kubotai got out of their tank and were crawling all around on the kitchen floor with their pectoral fins. I was busy with my kids, so I kept telling everyone not to step on them. When I finally got the time to catch them, I could only find one. whoa you...
