They are in my hospital/quarentine tank which has a bare floor (no substrate), a log and some silk plants. They have a hiding area, and I've been doing weekly 25% water changes and using Melafix. They're the only fish in the Q tank. Sometimes it's hard to monitor how much they're eating because they...

What about algae-eating shrimp? I've been thinking about getting a couple for my loach tank which is currently lacking a designated algae eater. I've read that they get along fairly well with loaches as long as the loaches can't fit the shrimp in their mouths. Has anyone kept algae-eating (Amano's) ...

Preventative medication?
I bought 2 2-inch clown loaches from Petsmart (bad, I know, but no one else in town could get anything but the tiny >1inch loaches) and I've been keeping them in a 10 gallon quarantine tank to monitor for disease, especially skinny disease. They are thin but not emaciated and seem to be eating okay....

Small as in anything smaller than the loaches? Or small as in neon tetra small? I'm trying to figure out a good dither fish. LFS where I bought the filter was rather low on barbs (I like gold barbs). I'm not too keen on tiger barbs... I'll have to see what the other LFS has. I'm also kind of worried...

So here's what I picked up from the LFS: Aquaclear 110 HOT filter and Hydor Koralia circulation pump. I explained what I was trying to achieve to the fish guy and showed him your recommendations and this is what he recommended. They had power heads, too, but he said if I didn't need the filtration (...

Thanks for the suggestions. :) So I looked into the river manifold powerhead thing from http://www.loaches.com/articles/river-tank-manifold-design With the river manifold, do they use another filter in the tank, or just the powerheads? Anyway, parts for that would cost me about $100. Or, I could use...

So the "loaches 101" ( http://www.loaches.com/articles/an-introduction-to-keeping-botia ) article recommends a spray bar. Are powerheads necessary? My LFS recommended a 'RENA XP 2' cannister filter with a spray bar ( http://www.planetrena.com/Rena-XP-Filstar-Filters.html ) Do gold barbs make good "d...

I have the tank, a stand, an old Regent (made by Marineland) filter of unknown specific GPH, and... hood, white fluorescent lights, lid, etc. The filter works although its very noisy and the output doesn't seem very strong. It also came with an old glass heater; not sure if it works. My 20 gallon ta...

new 50 gallon clown loach tank
Hi there, I'm new. I've had my 2 clown loaches for several years in a 20 gallon tank (I know it's too small and they should be in a larger school, but back then I didn't know better). I was just given a 50 gallon tank which is 48 x 12.5 x 18 inches and I'd like to set it up for my loaches (and hopef...
