(My protection against this kind of thing is to check Ph in the bag before acclimating. Doing this saved me a few hillstreams last time -- while the store system was supposed to be 6.8 it actually measured 7.4, and with one hour acclimation to my 6.4 in that tank, I would have killed the fish. I ha...

I remember reading somewhere, that the more water changes you do, the quicker the fish grow, as there are less hormones in the water...
I don't know if that has anything to do with your situation. Sorry.

Brilliant photo's everyone :D After my photography failures with my CL's (3.2mp digital camera, don't be concerned if you missed them), I'm not game to try to get a pic of the Yoyo's  My yoyo's aren't interested in peas, zucchini, cucumber, freeze dried brine shrimp or the sinking wafers - my ...

Traded out.....

Ok, I hope I don't get flamed for this - but I "traded out" of my Clown loaches  Yoyo loaches have only been available in Australia for about 6 months (if not less), and my new 3 yoyo's have just come out of their extra quarantine (they're quarantined a month before heading to where I get my f...

I try to give one "vegie" meal a day - be it either peas, cucumber, zucchini, or "blanched" lettuce... It's a vain attempt at protecting my aquarium plants  I noticed in another thread you also asked about blood worms - I feed frozen blood worms every second day at the least. With the blood wor...

I'm also in Australia (Sydney), where did you get your Levamisole from? Can you get this in Oz, without having to order online? Cheers I'm a greyhound trainer by profession, and it just so happens that Levamisole (in a liquid form - it's GREEN) is used as a "non specific immune stimulant" in greyho...

My "alpha" clown's black stripes are paler than the other clowns When I first got my clowns, the smallest one was a pale "yellow" sort of colour (rather than orange) with VERY black stripes, and I successfully treated him with Levamisole for what appeared to be Skinny Loach Disease (as he was critic...

Re: Ghost Shrimp as Loach fodder?

the others that i have (apple) won't breed. You may have all males (or all females; however males seem to be more common)... If you want to waste a heap of time, try to watch your snails when they are "hanging out" of their shell - inside the shell, between the head and the "roof" of the shell, the...

Your consistenly 0 nitr-A-tes have got me confused... Are you sure your tank didn't re-cycle on you at some stage? What are your nitr-I-tes? I do daily/twice daily/every second day (depends on what else I have to do) water changes, and my nitr-A-tes are still always giving a reading (less than 5, bu...

I have no idea how big they are (diameter), but the "drink bottle" trick might help you ? For bigger fish (and a big enough tank) I'd use one of those larger "water cooler" bottles - otherwise you might be able to modify a different sized bottle to suit the length & diameter of your fish... Cut the ...

While most of the color variations are likely to be totally safe (regional variations, older clowns that lost the orange, individual colors), one clown that I have had a color problem that was cured by anti-parasite meds. I wrote about him before, but here goes again: Our #4 clown, about 2.5", had ...

all perams are just where they need to be the tank is 20"x 20" x 20" there are two nice sized hiding places, plus a ton of plants that they can creep into and they usually do. I think that equates to a 35 gallon tank I had one very emaciated loach; I say "had", because he is now almost up to normal...
