Fin rot or not?
I have a Striata that is part of a group. He recently received damage to his rear fin. I'm not sure is it's fin rot or something someone else in the tank may have caused him. Here he is http://gallery.me.com/slick666/100233/IMG_0001_2_2/web.jpg Here are some close ups of the damage http://gallery.me...

Just as a follow up. I purchased and added a Tetra Tablet food but all the other Striata got after it before the largest one ever did. I've made some more changes recently... http://forums.loaches.com/viewtopic.php?t=17502 and now the fish are finally eating together. I think the addition of more pl...

The ad says that it is safe for all aquariums, but my understanding is that they do leach minerals and thus increase the TDS (total dissolved solids) in your water which can be a bad thing over time. I haven't seen anything to indicate that this would leach and raise my TDS but even if it were I do...

Ok, I went to the store and here are the results http://gallery.me.com/slick666/100233/IMG_0001_2/web.jpg I ended up getting some shale because I could deploy it quickly. Just a rinse and it's pretty much ready to put in. I built up the pile in the middle and made a small pile over where the loaches...

Bogwood it is. I'll be stopping off at the shop tomorrow, hopefully her will have a nice big piece. Will post pictures As for swapping out the substrate I've been contemplating that for a while but with my new additions to the tank I want the place to settle for a couple of weeks so everyone can get...

Thanks for all the responses Here's a pic of the tank zoomed out. http://gallery.me.com/slick666/100233/IMG_0001/web.jpg just want to comment on your heater we used similar type eheim or ebo jagger heaters I notice it seems its to high you need to submerge it completely or atleast on the water level...

I've recently been changing that around. I used to have a funky PVC connector that didn't seem to get much of a response. I recently gt a bunch of flat rocks that I was able to stack up. I think I can do better and I'll probably stop by the store today. The Tank has 4 large fake plants, a big rock o...

Paniced Loach Owner, Fish are escaping
Like the title says I had a fish escape. The excitement is over but I am now paranoid that I might loose some of my new prized loaches. Let me give some background. You may have noticed my thread inquiring about the kubotai loaches. I went ahead and purchased 3 Kubotai loaches, two mature and one yo...

Striata and Kubotai
Do the two species get along? I have 4 Striata and my local store just got a couple Kubotai in. I wonder if the two would get along.

I got some tablets from the fish store. The younger fish went for it straight away (I can't believe they would still be hungry). One of the larger fish was hunting around right next to it and actually touched it but payed it no mind. It's been a while since zucchini so that is on my list for tomorro...
