Shutting down the loach tank
Today is a sad day :( I have made the painful and upsetting decision to shut down my loach tank and find new homes for my fishes. I recently went away on vacation only to return to find that the heater in my tank went on the fritz and 3 of my four Kubotai were dead. The heater some how broke and ove...

Need to find a home for my lovely loaches
Hello Everyone, I live in the Damascus, MD area (30 miles NW of Washington DC) I am looking to find a home for my lovely loaches and other assorted fish. I have to move with very little notice and I no longer have the time and energy to care for my fish as they deserve to be cared for. Is there anyo...

I have seen some loaches mis-labled as Zebras before. Most commonly mislabled loach Botia Dario which should be labled as a Bengal or Queen Loach http://www.loaches.com/species-index/botia-dario/?searchterm=dario I can't see your pictures but from the description I think that is what you probably ha...

Re: catching a sid
Unfortunately, there is no chasing or herding this loach anywhere in this tank. Even if I removed the (big) rocks and all the wood from the tank, he could hide in the plants. I'd also rather not terrorize the angels trying to catch him. Yeah, things would be a lot easier if you could remove all hid...

Here is how I catch mine. -I remove all decor as well as any hiding places. -I take my big net (6 inches long by 4 high) and hold it stationary against the glass on the long wall of the tank. Hold it there for a minute or two until the fish calm down a little bit -I take one of my smaller nets and c...

nice tank. i want some fat yoyos. but they cost 21 bucks and petsmart is the only place that has them. Wow, I find them all the time at my LFS and I haven't paid above $9 for a loach. The most expensive loach I ever bought was a Sid at $8.99. I bought a nice big fat 4" yoyo from there for $7. (you ...

Once you get your tank cycled and ready to go, I think that (if you don't mind a huge rash of babies) guppies are a good dither fish for a kuhli tank. You may need to find a LFS that you can sell the excess of babies back to once they get nice color or friends that you can trade stock with. Or you c...

Re: Going fishing in a 300 gallon tank
I don't think this would work too well for my guppies because they get wise of any net I put in the tank and they all go down to the bottom.Keith Wolcott wrote: This method works well for dither fish, but would not work at all for loaches since they disappear under all of the wood.

Among those loaches, compatability is really defined by the water parameters they thrive in. As far as compatability of temperments, I don't think there is really an issue among these loaches. The only loaches that I have heard about having a problem with other loaches are the "grrr" loaches such as...
