sinibotia Superciliaris "Golden Chinese Loach"

Does anyone here have any of these loaches. I have recently acquired 3 and they appeared to be very outgoing in the lfs and also when I got them home in the QT tank but since they have been relocated into the planted tank they have disappeared. I would like to know if they are always this reclusive ...

I have a shibunkin in one of my ponds with a missing gill cover and it has no problems at all. It is growing well and none of the other fish seem to pick on it because of the deformity.

I have had this pond for about 3 years now and have not introduced these snails they have come in on the plants. How would I know if they have disease/parasites and is their something I could do to check.

Loaches and snails.

I know that clown loaches love snails for breakfast, lunch and dinner. What I would like to know is, would it be ok to feed my loaches snails from my outdoor ponds. They breed like mad in my ponds and just wondered if they would make a good snack for my babies.

Glad to hear that your loaches are fine. As for how long to keep treating I have read that two weeks after symptoms disappear. But don't take this as gospel as this is second hand information, hopefully someone else with better information will chime in. But as for your comment about stress I would ...

I thought feeding 6 clown loaches was bad enough. How many loaches do you have and what size tank are they in. It must be enormous.

Thanks Rave,

I did intend to clean the sand out thoroughly in a large bucket before adding to the tank. I think I will be there for hours as the tanks is 6'x2'x2', and I like a decent amount of substrate.

Nice tank. I noticed you had plants in the substrate between the rocks. Do your Clowns dig them up?

Clown loaches and substrate

Hi all

I have a quick question regarding Clown Loaches and substrate. Which substrate if any do they prefer. My new tank arrives this week and was thinking of using sand for the substrate. Thought, Ideas, most appreciated.

Ashleigh

Its nice to hear that stripe is doing well with the TLC you are giving him/her. I have at times had to rescue fish from either pet shops or other peoples tanks. It is very rewarding to see these fish respond to good treatment.

Sorry to hear about your Dojo. I hope the others do not fret to much. I know how attached one can get to there fish. I have had my loaches amongst others for 6 year and would be devastated if I lost one. Again condolences.
