Botia Kubotai

I was browsing Petsmart one day and I saw the "Angelicus Botias" and thought they were pretty cool, my mother was with me.

My birthday is in a few days and she went ahead and bought me some new fish, the Botia included., but only 1.

My question is, does this guy need some playmates? So far he is ...

I've put a rather large size of Squash in there, I never see any snails on it.

Well after all this, I think I will just keep with my tank.

I developed an algae problem which my new Otos will take care of.

These probably attributed to the snails.

Its not a HUGE problem, it just annoys me to see them.

For the final time, I am not getting these just for snails.....SO pelase stop saying they are not a solution to them.

Yes, my tank is nearing its capacity.

I am not some new aquariest, I have had a Koi pond for over 10 years and always at least 4 tanks in my house.

Well I can hit 2 birds with oen stone on the snail problem with Loaches.

I went to the store and they recommend Kuhli Loaches.

I didn't pick any up yet.

I am going to go have a look at what they have/recommend. They aren't Petsmart, they specialize in aquatics.

SO I will look at my options.

I am still pursuing the Loach idea, I have 10 gallons or so of room left in my 37G and want 3 or so 3-4inch loaches.

The snails I fave are tiny Dwarf Ramshorn.

I AM NOT SOLELY GETTIN THEM FOR THE SNAILS, its just an excuse to put more pretty fish in my tank. I would love Clowns, but they get too ...

What sort of set up are you thinking about?
Tank size?
Decor?
Tank mates?
Other info?

I am thinking of adding them to the tank to help eradicate a snail problem and I also got some interest in them. They look like very cool fish, and I wish to have a bottom feeder in my tank.

Tank size is 37Gal ...

I will be looking into these.

I will see if my local tropical fish store carries them.

My main worry is my Mystery snails, will these snails also go after the Mysteries?

Ahh, I figured they needed to be kept in small groups.

If I do end up getting loaches, will the Mystery snails be eaten?

New to Loaches/Botias!!

Well, I have a snail problem in several of my tanks(Ramshorn, and dwarf ramshorns).

Looking for loaches suitable for each tank.

1 10 gallon with a few fish.

1 20 gallon with 14 or so inches of fish.

1 37 gallon filled with a tropical community(Can fit a 4 or 5 inch fish)

My local tropical fish ...
