Re: Arrowana.

These are amazing fish! Sleek, beautiful and graceful. In the wild it's common for them to actually pluck birds from low branches above the water! As Martin said, they require a massive amount of water because they grow to an enormous size. We housed several at Georgia Aquarium until we sent them to...

Re: Help!!!! Re-Sealing an Aquarium

Thank you to everyone replying and the great advice! Martin, you are correct, it is the 24" x 24" panel and I will not be filling this aquarium completely,..my turtles like to climb out and bask. Re: Help!!!! Re-Sealing an Aquarium

andyroo, thanks for replying! I guess I forgot to mention that the person I got it from removed the right panel because it was scratched and he wanted pristine glass. Now I have to finish removing the silicon on that side and put the panel back. My biggest concern is whether or not the new silicon w...

Help!!!! Re-Sealing an Aquarium

Okay folks, I really need some experienced advice here. Many (and I mean many) years ago I worked in a LFS and re-sealed several 20 - 55 gallon aquariums. I now have a 60" x 24" x 24" (approximately 150 gallons) I need to repair. I bought it cheap for my turtles because it's big and already scratche...

Re: NEW 300g acrylic tank

A beautiful barb I'm planning on having a school of is the Denison Barb (Puntis denisonii.) They are also known as Red Line Torpedo Barb and Roseline Shark. Awesome fish. We have a nice sized school in one of our displays at Georgia Aquarium. They really are striking and pretty hardy. The drawback i...

Emma, I am so sorry for your loss. I hope you can take comfort in knowing Marge inspired many aquarist to do the very best for their aquariums. Marge and her companions have definitely inspired me. Marge will be missed.

bookpage, your 125 is beautiful! You have some lucky loaches! Rychek, you are correct. I worked in a LFS for 13 years and was drawn into marine and reef aquariums. I eventually broke down the reef but still have two marine fish because I cannot find a new home for them that I believe is good enough ...

Hi Katy, I went to an aquarium shop I knew had access to a custom stand and canopy carpenter. Another option is a custom cabinet carpenter. It will help if you have a drawn plan to give them. Make sure you have exact dimensions, an area for feeding and maintenance, inside clearance for lighting, an ...

Hi bookpage, I thought about the advantages of it removing NH4 but didn't even think about the possibility of it becoming "exhausted." I'm glad you pointed that out. But even if it does become exhausted I don't think there would be an ammonia issue as long as the aquarium is properly maintained. I c...

Has anyone used ZeoSand?

Has anyone used "ZeoSand" in their loach tank(s)? I'm not having much luck in finding 3M Colorquartz but I've been able to find a source for this stuff. Here's a link to the site http://www.zeoinc.com/zeosand.html Even if you have not used it, I'm interested in your opinions of it. Thanks in advance...
