clearly a botia striata... By the way, Pakistani loaches are such fascinating creatures. They give off a beautiful silver shimmer when the lights are on, and they manage to twist and contort their bodies almost like Kuhlis. And they are so zesty and full of life, compared to slow, sluggish catfish. ...

Hehe...I bought 2 for 6 quid! A really big one too. What's the upper limit in terms of temperature that these can take? For your information, they are in a 36 inch tank with 2 filters...one of which is boggo 1800l/h internal filter. Pretty well oxygenated, I would say.

Thanks for your reply, I should have told you I can read Korean, to save you the trouble! The Iksookimia Pulmia is called Bu-An-Jong-Gae, apparently it is endangered but it's been captive bred and 5000 individuals have been released into the wild. The fish is unique to Korea. It was Prof. Kim Ik Soo...

Thank you! I actually posted a post asking about Korean loaches here:

But you answered my question! You live in Japan; were the fish collected from Korea?

Thanks,

Edmond

I can answer one of your questions: that of plants. I can wholeheartedly recommend Anubias, any species. I have been keeping fish for about 2 years and many plants have come and gone (mostly in the form of a pulpy mess); Anubias nana however have soldiered on. They grow slowly but they WILL survive!...

Normal loaches are way too quick and alert to be attacked by plecos which are pretty docile anyway...it's the Chinese Algae Eater you should be worried about! They grow to about half a foot. The worst of course is the Candiru...
