So sorry and sad about the news of Marge passing Em. She was a famous girl indeed and it was a google search that led me to Marge and in turn this website. Obviously I owe quite a bit to her for bringing me back into the hobby properly and introducing me to so many well educated and enthusiastic fis...

Been watching along on this project for quite a while. Really like everything you have going on with the set-up. Beautiful Tank - Very Inspiring!!

Maybe some high intensity LEDs recessed into the rock overhangs to get more light down into the water??

Lots of good points laid out there Diana!

I like that filter material 1.5 inches thick! A little pricey, but it should last for nearly forever. Looks like good stuff!

The pump is a Marineland MaxiJet 1100 I ordered from the Fosters & Smith website, and just by luck the Python water change fittings are the correct size and thread pattern for the filter housing. That pump is a bit undersized - it is what I use to pump water from my holding tank to the tanks for wat...

Here is something you could consider for your return to the tank. It's a DIY particulate filter I am using (here in test phase). Just a standard GE whole house water filter. The cartridge in the photo is a 30 micron you can get 350 gph through it, they also have 5 micron cartridges that you can move...

Hi Sawyer, What part of Florida are you in? This state is sort of a dead zone for good freshwater fish stores - loaches in particular. I have to do a lot of calling and driving to get any results and am considering ordering from Frank's when I set up my next tank. I have found yoyo's fairly often th...

Looks great Val! Babies look happy, tank looks nice too. It looks like those internal filters are making a pretty good amount of current in there as well.

Is this the tank where your grumpy severum was living??

If we paid attention to the technique we could probably find some flaws, however I would have to rate that as the best water change ever! :D :D

I definitely have my own problems with laziness, such as laundry and mowing the lawn. However I have seriously Obsessive Compulsive Disorder on the water clarity. I start to freak if I can see particulate floating around. I read the comparison on the Fluval and Eheim and was considering getti...

Nice looking tank! Exactly what I'm looking for myself. I don't think I would back down on the 2 FX5's though or at least not that GPH. I'd be looking at at least 2500 GP moving around in a tank that size. My personal theory on the hydor pumps and powerheads is that if you are going to pay to pump w...

Looks like a first rate publication, would love to see an English version in the states. An option is National/Regional printings which could let the local advertisers remain and add large international ones as well. License a UK version and arrange with a printer in the UK to publish that version, ...

Can you do some testing of the runoff before you have to scrap the idea and see just what the levels are? maybe get a sample when it first starts raining and one during mid downpour and see if the levels are actually high enough to pose a threat. I'm thinking that just like with copper pipes that on...

Rae, I think as long as your tap water matches your tank water closely in PH/GH/KH and you aren't seeing any problems then going straight to the tank is fine. That is what the Python units are made to allow you to do. Most of the de-chlor products like Prime and such work virtually instantly. I was ...
