Hi, yes ist seems, that the age is important. My older Yunnanilus (> 1,5 years) are shy, the younger ones (beetween 3 and 6 months) do it the same way you told. They are very activ and it seems they clean somtimes the other fishes. (Always in the near of the eye) but not in a aggressive way. Great l...

Hi Haakon, Congratulations for your success. I'm almost tempted to call breeding these loaches a simple task Yes, i think so too, if the fishes are in a good condition, there are no great problems to make them spawn. I think the water parameters are not so important. Some fresh water and they will d...

Hi Haakon,

great tank for the Yunnanilus. You have to wait and you will see nothing. In 7-10 days maybe you see one small fish. Then, one week later you will see a lot of fishes. :P

Feed early artemia.

My Yunnanilus eat the eggs, but not all. Maybe the shrimps in your tank are a problem.

Hi Graeme,

no problem, it's a pleasure to me.

But here are most of the pics and the story on a german website, the BSSW is a international organisation of a small group of fishholders.

But of course you can use the pictures for the main site.

Hi, my name is Frank. I come from Germany. For that, sorry for my lousy english. I have 6 of the Y.cruciatus since 10/2008. They had spawned at the end of March two times. The fishes are in a 45 litre Tank. There are now about 20 young fishes. Here are some pics: (I have to clean the glass of the ta...
