Looking at Dr. Tan's book, no mention of red in the caudal fin of g. zebrinas. The head markings aren't right either, look more like g. crenastus which can have red in the caudal. ?????? It surely looks like the G. crenastus on Michael Lo's website. http://www.ibanorum.netfirms.com/gastromyzonD.htm

If I had another lifetime I'd move to Bormeo and study these down to the genetics! Give me a call and I'll go with you. :D For now I'm trying to save some money for a short Borneo trip in the near future. About the algae growth on the rocks; I really don't know what's the trick. In both tanks I try...

Most of the ten G. zebrinus I've got can be very dark. The 3 biggest ones (around 6 cm TL) have somewhat fainter markings that almost completely disappear when they have a territorial dispute. But they can also be lightbrown, darkgreen, darkbrown etc.. It depends on the surface they're on. I've got ...

Nice tank. :D
Hypergastromyzon cf. humilis i think?
I think you're right.
It looks exactly like my fishes that were identified as Hypergastromyzon humilis.
They are nice, extremely flat little creatures. :)

What can you tell me about them? Are they shy?
My viriosus are the boldest Gastro's in the tank. (other Gastro's: G. scitulus, G. zebrinus/stellatus, G. ctenocephalus)
They are not shy at all.

How many G. viriosus do you have?
I've got five of them.
They were all labeled as G. punctulatus.
It was the first time I spotted the viriosus overhere and couldn't resist taking some home. :)

Some Gastromyzon pics. In this tank are G. scitulus, G. ctenocephalus, G. viriosus and some of the G. ridens complex (probably G. zebrinus and/or G. stellatus). http://i472.photobucket.com/albums/rr85/kajra7/hill14.jpg http://i472.photobucket.com/albums/rr85/kajra7/hill17.jpg http://i472.photobucket...

Hi Odyssey, Great thread you have here with a lot of information. :D On page 2 in this thread you make a difference between the Rainbowcolor and S. pelewensis. Do you think they are different species? And can you observe a difference in length between these specimen? I've got 3 male Stiphodon (and 7...
