Hello, If I want to catch a kuhli loach, I put a small plastik container into the tank, which have 2-3 small holes, so the kuhlis can get into it. Because the kuhlis a very curious fish, they will get int the box sooner or later and so you can catch then without a lot of stress. Maybe you can put so...

Hi, 10 times the tank volume looks like a strong waterflow to me. Maybe it also depends on what kind of "waterflow-producer" it is, filter only, filter with additional powerhead and what kind of powerhead used etc. That is exactly why I asked this question, some people have strong waterflow for thei...

Hi

Thank you for the information.

If it is not necessary, then I will plan the tank setup without
the aditional powerhead and only with the canisterfilter.

Waterflow for Kuhli-Loaches

Hi everybody, I am planing a new tank for my Kuhli Loaches. The size will be 100x50x50 cm (250Liter). They will be together with trigonostigma hengeli in the tank. Now I have a question about the waterflow. In the current tank (120Liter) I have a filter with 750 l/h flow, which I would like to keep ...

Hi Patti, I keep Kuhlis together with red cherry shrimps in the same tank. There are no problems at all. They live together without any problems and when it is feeding time, they are close together to feed on the same spot. What I do not know is, if sometimes young cherry shrimps will be eaten by th...

Hello Donna, Nice Pictures and interresting tank setup. I have some "cool kuhlis" too and I like them very much. They are really interresting to watch, when they come out of their hiding places for feeding. Here a picture of one of my cool kuhlis. http://img690.imageshack.us/img690/6754/kuhli01.jpg ...

Hi Charles,

They are not my fish, they belong to a friend who lives in northern
Germany, I just helped him to identify the Loches.

Hello Martin,

This is a very beautiful picture, is this one of your fish?

I had a look in the species-index, but I was not quiet sure, was it was.
But now with your picture I am sure it is a smithi.

Thank you

Hello,

Thank you very much for the answers.
We had a closer look at the pectoral and pelvic fins, and they do
overlap a bit, so we think they must be Homaloptera smithi.

If we ever get a better picture of them, I will show it to you.

Thanks again.

It is a while back, that I told you about my s. elongatas and I think it is time for an update. They all do pretty well in my tank. The young ones are eating all the time and getting bigger and bigger. Now they start to stick to the front glas of the tank. It was funny to watch them, because when th...

Hello Marc999, Thanks. I love that tank too. I really like it, when there are a lot of plants around, and I think the fish like it too if they have some plants to hide behinde, what they often do. But as someone told me, the more hiding spots the fish have, the more often you see them. And I think f...

Hello Charles, My elongatas do pretty well. They are eating all day long and getting bigger and bigger. At the moment the biggest is about 25-30mm long (it is really difficult to measure them), the smalest I have is about 10mm long now. So far I could count about 10 young elongatas. I think it is ge...
