Re: Clown Loach with white bump - not Ich - looks like a pim
I took 5 pictures and none of them show the spot very well at all. They're so bad that it isn't worth posting any of them. I'll try again tomorrow.

Clown Loach with white bump - not Ich - looks like a pimple
I have a large clown with a white bump on his side. It doesn't look like Ich at all. The skin around the bump is raised the way a pimple would be on our skin. It looks like a pimple with a white head. I can't see any characteristics to indicate a particular parasite and I have no idea what it could ...

Re: Bloated CL with Protruding eyes
Thanks for your 2 cents worth, Emily. I'm thinking it was some sort of internal infection. The two 11-yr old clowns I had in my tank were 6 to 8 inches. The female who just passed away was 6 inches. The male, who is still doing well, is 8 inches. They are my favorite fish and the main reason I have ...

Re: Bloated CL with Protruding eyes
Unfortunately today she isn't looking good at all. Her body is covered in a film that doesn't just look like slime coat, her eyes are no longer protruding, but she also has a red dot on both sides of her abdomen that looks like a blood spot and it's in the same area on both sides, almost as if whate...

Re: Bloated CL with Protruding eyes
I am very disappointed that I received no replies on this post. I treated with one full cycle of Maracyn2, and added salt to the water in case she was egg bound, and to help with whatever disease she "may have". I left for vacation Friday through Sunday and when I returned she was no longer bloated ...

Bloated CL with Protruding eyes
My 10+ year-old Clown Loach has suddenly developed very obvious google-eyes and a very round belly. I have been doing regular water changes weekly or by-weekly, and I don't know what is causing this problem. I did another big water change yesterday and started Maracyn-2 today. Any other suggestions?...

Re: Rapid breathing and hiding clown loach
Diana, thank you. You've made some excellent points, and since we are on well water I will refrain from using copper meds in the future! I will do as you suggest. Last night the CL I was referring to with rapid breathing started coming out of the hiding place more frequently, and was looking a littl...

Rapid breathing and hiding clown loach
One of my fish recently became ill and contracted ich. I started treatment using Coppersafe in my 75 gal tank and raised temps to 86 degrees Fahrenheit. Now one of my clown loaches, who is about 11 years old now, is breathing rapidly. I immediately did a 30% water change, added coppersafe (only enou...

Baileofsolamnia: I am sorry, but I am not qualified to give you advice on your sick dojo. I think you should post a separate question under the health section of this forum. Maybe someone will see your post and be able to help. Look up hole-in-head and see if that is what you are seeing on your dojo...

Chefkeith, I did not buy the TDS meter, but I stopped salting the water. I have been doing 1/3 water changes every 2-4 wks. I try to do it by the 3rd week, but sometimes the schedule gets so busy I push it to 4 wks. I have just a few plants, and most of the plants in the tank don't do very well. I p...

Flashing loaches - no other signs of illness
I have an established 75 gallon tank with 6 clowns and 2 Yoyo loaches. I had a black ghost knife fish in the tank for about 4 to 5 months, but it died suddenly without displaying symptoms of illness. A few days later I lost a yoyo loach. The yoyo's have been acting funny lately, but I figured it's j...

Planting an established freshwater aquarium
I have recently added some plants to my 75 gallon established aquarium, which is stocked with several fish. I do not want to break it down to add the appropriate substrate for plants, so I am trying to find out what is the best way to add the nutrients that plants require so that I can create a tank...

I am so happy to report that my clowns have finally settled into their new tank and they are swimming around together more regularly now. I even saw them doing their up and down dance a few times! As a side note, I purchased and planted a few plants that have low to moderate light requirements. I've...
