Re: Need help ASAP! Bullying

I'd agree with the add more loaches approach if you have room. My Sids used to bully my Yoyos, but I bought more sids, then it all calmed down.

They still poke at each other now and again, but mainly for fun I think!

Easy Life too easy?

Hi everyone, http://www.easylife.nl/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=11&Itemid=82&lang=en I've been reading about this new product from Easy Life, Liquid Filter medium, Easy Neo. It seems like miracle stuff, no overdosing, only positive benefits etc. Too good to be true? Has anyone here ...

Donna - LOL... yes, let's hope so!

Thanks for the feedback so far folks. I'm going to talk to a fella I know who likes an engineering challenge, see what we can come up with.

If anyone has further ideas, keep em coming.

Playing games with my Yoyos - ingenious snail puzzles!

Hi all, So, here's the thing. I've got a Jewel Rio 300 with the corner all-in-1 filter box thingy. Over time, baby common round snails have got into the filter and live a dark imprisoned life living off the gunk in the filters. This is driving one of my Yoyos nuts :) He knows they are in there, but ...

Massively, hugely helpful, thanks!! I now know I have 3 Pseudogastromyzon Cheni, thanks to the last 4 pictures. I've been trying to work out what they were for months, the LFS had them listed as Gastromyzon Borneensis, which is somewhat generic. I've tried taking photos, but my substrate is black an...

I'll see how things go. I've just realised that this seems to have coincided with me removing the smallest "runt" yoyo to the quarantine tank for treatment. He couldn't outrun or outfight a Sid, but perhaps they now feel the balance of power is shifting in their favour?! :) Maybe 2 more Sids might f...

Hi Mad Duff, Thanks for the reply. The tank is pretty heavily planted, with more plants and a big piece of multi-armed bogwood at one end, then a large cave in the middle and at the other end a big rock pile set over 3 ceramic tunnels, so there are plenty of hiding places. They really are little tin...

Sids chasing and annoying YoYo's

Hi folks, I wondered if I could ask for some opinions on my current loach behaviour? I have a 300l community tank, set up in September last year. It has a few tetras and rasboras, four penta barbs, a couple of lizard plecs, a lace gourami and a loach community. Initially I had 5 yoyos and 3 hillstre...

Spot on folks, it took 2 attempts to get the small ones feeding first and now they're all over me like a rash as soon as I put my hand in the tank with a block of bloodworm! Great experience, I love how silky soft they feel wriggling in your hand :) The biggest one still doesn't like to go for it th...

Thanks for all the advice everyone.

I bought some frozen bloodworm today. The guy in my LFS advised that I defrost and wash it first, as the water it's frozen in is nasty. So, don't know others experiences are there, but it seems sound advice?

I'll post any new fish nipping experiences! :)

Training yoyos to feed from your hand

Hi all, I wondered if anyone has any tips on how to train loaches to hand-feed? I've read that Clowns and Yoyos will do this, and it seems a great way to bond with my stripy friends. So far, mine are still juveniles, I've got 5 from about 4 - 6 cms. I've had them about a month They don't "hang out" ...

Just a quick update... The famous 5 have been in the tank for nearly a month and so far they have totally ignored the shrimps... They've happily munched their way through all the small common snails (and there were a lot of those) but don't seem too bothered with the MTSs yet. It's all one big happy...
