light patches on weather loach
over the last few days, my weather loach (Liam Neeson) has developed a few small light/milky patches. i dont't know if he injured himself and this is like a bruising or scaring or is it some sort of fungus/disease that needs treating... https://c3.staticflickr.com/6/5813/30549707946_89b94d8cf0_b.jpg...

unknown bugs
I don't know if I'll get a response, I haven't been on the site for ages but I can't find anything that looks like this... I have bugs in my tank. These bugs to be precise: https://c4.staticflickr.com/6/5702/30497751571_a49341df83_b.jpg IMG_3238 what the heck are they? I have a 150l freshwater tank ...

Re: Medication Advice (goldfish)
Just an update to let you all know that 'Chips', the surviving member of the 'Fish and Chips Duo' passed away today. Since the death of 'Fish', she was never quite the same. She passed peacefully and as comfortably as I could make her. I feel privileged to have looked after these two darling fish fo...

Mystery Dots
I was giving my tank a good checking over and noticed these blob things dotted around the tank. In the years I've kept fish, I've honestly never seen anything like this before. They're dotted randomly throughout the tank. Does anyone have any ideas?? (sorry my camera isn't great). https://farm1.stat...

I treated her as best I could but I fear that she ju...

Medication Advice (goldfish)
one of my goldfish (the white one if you remember me!) has a bloated side. her side is discoloured slightly and a few scales are lifting. at first, both of my fish went through their normal swelling (which i always attributed to holding eggs) but this time, the swelling one one of their sides (right...

Re: EMERGENCY - Goldfish
I'm sad to announce that Sebastian the goldfish had passed away.
We had many good years together after I adopted him from my cousin.
I'll miss him taking food from my hands and entertaining everyone with his antics.
I just wish I had a nice photo of him.
R.I.P. my darling little friend <3

Re: EMERGENCY - Goldfish
Sebastian just went through a 3 minute period of twitching/convulsing. He is trying to swim around the tank but every time he does he can only swim in a spiral, upside down and then gives up. OK, update time. No improvement. Still alive, but no better. He is still limping around the tank in a 'c sha...

Re: New to Loach keeping - Weather loaches dying in Quaranti
when I first moved my two weather loaches, they were fine for the first day in a new tank and one stated to curl itself up almost tying itself in knots. I moved it to a tank of its own (these fish had been together in a smaller tank for about a year with two goldfish). it was really scary to see my ...

EMERGENCY - Goldfish
As some of you may know, I have several tanks in my house. Some with goldfish and some with goldfish and weather loaches. I woke this morning to my solo goldfish (kept apart from others since he's quite aggressive) on his side with the bends. I noticed him listing slightly on one side a few days ago...

Holiday Feeding
I'm going in holiday and although I have kept fish for years I've never not been able to feed them while I was away (the people who normally feed them for me are coming with me this time!) Now my fish are quite picky and won't eat the stupid block food that I hate using anyway so I was thinking abou...

Re: goldfish injuries
ok, an update after HOW long? I thought you'd like to see Fish as she is now. None of the treatments I tried brought her colour back and now she looks like this: http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8173/8057400204_f5b5fd63ee.jpg http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8456/8057399127_f4b0dc4a79.jpg http://farm9.sta...

I Need A Good Filter
I'm looking for a new filter for my 125l, fresh cold water tank. It houses two goldfish and two weather loaches with a mix of real and fake plants with fine gravel. At the moment I have a fluval 3 (or something...) filter. It's a couple of years old and I don't think it's doing the job well enough. ...
