Re: Clown Loach Compatibility
For ages I had just clown loach, 20odd. I've just added tiger barbs and the clowns love them. Unexpected but lots of fun.

Re: Lethargic clown loach
Test the water and consider getting some more clowns if conditions allow. I find high nitrates make them sluggish as does insufficient numbers if tank mates. and 5 isn't enough. Caution though that you don't overstock

Re: what happened to Crowland Maidenhead aquatics?
That's right. I wondered whether she was on here to tell the story you see. They were much more interesting than most shops for the loach fancier for this reason. Unfortunately I moved away from the area and halved their business

Re: have i made a mistake?
Sucking loaches are awesome. They love to sit on a log and cruise around the tank feeding off the sides. Feed them wafers, cucumber etc and they'll munch on them for ages. I had no trouble with mine (I don't believe the have a reputation of any kind) but did find that they seemed happier on their ow...

Re: what happened to Crowland Maidenhead aquatics?
Seems to me the garden centre out was in closed. I wondered if maidenhead aquarius crowland moved somewhere else. Given their loach specialism I thought someone here would know. Indeed i thought someone here used to run it.

Re: Points to watch with RO units?
Thanks chaps, very interesting. I had no idea there was waste water, or that the delivered water was oxygen free. I have a waste on the tank so that's no issue. I also have a water supply there, so the key question is how to store the water so I can automate the delivery without spilling it. If the ...

Points to watch with RO units?
RO query: I've a 200 UK gal tank with 8 clowns. Our local water arrives with a low level of nitrate already present. Local water is hard and that's what I have them in. The only issue I have is that they are a little sluggish as I can't control the nitrate. I've tried filtering the water on the way ...

Re: Well rounded loach diets.
I used to feed mine live river shrimp but stopped as it seemed a bit macabre. But they went nuts for it. They need to be big enough to eat them obviously.

Re: Behaviour when new clown coach introduced
Given you've now addded some loaches you may also need to add some hiding places. Otherwise I find they can compete for hiding places and I'm not convinced that the competition is entirely healthy for them. Is there plenty of hiding other than where the larger loach likes to hide?
