Yeah, I tried ordering some from a few pharmaceutical companies, but to no avail.
The jungle fish food has turned out pretty good - I bought the tropical fish version, rather than the pond, but I am finding even this is too big for my tiny fish!! Ground up, it is pretty popular with the fish though!

Advice from a vet - You may find this interesting...?

Following extensive troubles with my filter, my clown loach Eric has suddenly lost weight. Not very much, but enough to cause concern. I got onto my vet, hoping to get hold of some levasole for the tank. Instead, I got a referral to another vet, who treats fish (this is a rarity in England!). After ...

I'm very sorry to hear about your poor brave loach.
You did everything that you could have done, I'm sure she appreciated your love.

You can get Kyolic liquid garlic from health food stores. This will dissolve in the water, so your clown will absorb some without eating.

I hope your clown gets better.

Heehee, hello! I'm sorry, but I don't have any useful advice to give, except that, when challenged regarding the algae content of your tank, you can defend it by saying that it more closely approximates the natural habitat of your loaches, thereby making them feel more at home. Works for me! Also, I...

Clown Loach - Strange Behaviour

As you may have read, I have had some trouble with my filter, which lead to poor water quality for a few days. I have a new filter installed, and water quality is back to what it should be. Since the new filter was installed, however, I have noticed that my clown has developed some strange new behav...

It's good to know I'm doing something right! From now on, it's two filters in every tank, no matter what the size!! Did a further water test this morning... Ammonia - 0.25ppm Nitrite - 0.25ppm Nitrate - 20ppm Have dosed the tank with another 20ml of Nutrafin and Stress Zyme, hopefully this will do t...

So after approx. 8 hours, water conditions are as follows:
Ammonia - 0.25ppm
Nitrite - 0.5ppm
Nitrate - 20ppm

This is definately a step in the right direction!!

Thanks for the advice! Ok, so I managed to buy another filter this morning. In the end, they only had two suitable, so I ended up with a Fluval U2 filter - this has clay beads in a basket within the filter, I hope this isn't what you meant by a filter cartridge, Diana? I have both filters running co...

Help! More filter troubles...

Basically, my filter is shot. I have taken it apart and cleaned it five times in the last three days. I can find nothing wrong with it, but it is not blowing bubbles and the water flow is very poor. Essentially, it is now just doing a very bad job of agitating the water. Over the last three days, I ...

I tested for everything, and nothing has changed except for the pH level.
It's an interpet PF2 filter. I replaced a couple of parts when I cleaned it for the second time last night, and for the most part it seems to be doing ok. Still, it would be nice if I could rely on it to work... :S

Filters, Malachite Green and pH levels...?

Hi I have been having issues with my filter lately, mostly due to overenthusiastic snails getting into the motor. When I came home tonight, I noticed that it wasn't blowing any bubbles. I checked and cleaned the filter (but could find no blockages..?), fiddled with the motor for a bit and turned it b...

Thankyou!! He is a really lovely fish, I was very lucky! I actually haven't heard any clicking in a while - when he was new he used to go from one snail to another (I have lots :( ) picking them off the walls and making that cute clicking noise! He didn't eat them, just annoyed them!! He seems to ha...

That is a mystery! According to my lfs, clown loaches can also develop white spots if they don't like the water conditions, although I can't imagine those would disappear overnight either!? Have just dosed my tank to be on the safe side, and Eric seems fine - although I think this might have somethi...
