At the moment I have 20 Kryptopterus as dither fish. ( glass catfish)
Before them, I had a 60+ shoal of Danio Choprae.
Both species are suitable for a hillstream set up, atleast it worked fine for me.

Re: Clown Loach Fry!
I'm with Bas on this one.
It looks like Barb fry to me because I kept Filamentosis for a while. When I discovered a juvenile in my tank I was astonished. Huh? Clow loach fry? But I don't even keep Clowns!!?¿
And after some research I found out it was a Filamentosis baby

Re: VITAMINS?
Hi Fran, I use fishvitamins 2 times a week. ( HW Multivit) I agree that most commercial foods contain vitamins, but after a while the quality of the food turns less. That's why I keep using fishvitamins, that way I am sure the food I give them is still rich in vitamins. I have a group of Gastromyzon...

Re: Notropis Chrosomus in hillstream tank
Thanks for your compliment and tip. It is much appreciated. My shiners are doing very well. Some of the bigger ones are sometimes swimming among the Choprae's. It's a funny sight. I feed my fish wafers and spirulina tablets that i first soak in some fishtamin and then stick to the glass. All fish ca...

Notropis Chrosomus in hillstream tank
Hi everyone, It's been a long while since i have posted on this forum. I have sold my old tank , eventually wanted a bigger tank to start a Myanmar biotope but ended up, surprisingly, with a hillstream! my tank now I use the manifold river setup by Martin Thoene and it works great. I had m...

Re: I lost my baby sewellia!!!
Oh noes! :( Sorry to hear that, Jim. I can imagine your disappointment. My logica tells me, after spawning the eggs go with the flow. when they hatch and the fry gets bigger, maybe it's in their nature to swim upwards the waterfall and return to the original spawning grounds? I also saw my couple Ga...

Edit: 2 p.m. My Gastromyzon died. When i got home from work i checked on him and he was dead. Menu, thank you for the medicine advice, i wi...

Thanks, i'm gonna need that luck! I just put him in the quarantine tank and caught it without any chasing. I lifted the rock slowly from the tank and put it in the q-tank, with hilly and all. He has a few algae rocks from the rivertank, an internal filter, aeration and a heater in the setup, so i gu...

Hi Jim & Menu, I have it 1,5 years and got it from the dealer, so i have no clue. For what i know, they have a lifespan of 5 to 6 years. This one was full grown when i bought it, so it might be age. He's still alive and he is still eating but is getting thinner on his tail by the day. Still good in ...

The cut looks better and smaller than yesterday, but he is skinny http://www.ultimatemetal.com/forum/images/smilies/crap.gif I assume that the wound bothers him and that eating isn't easy. He does graze but not constantly. He does move through the tank, isn't shy or acting sick and even scooches up ...

Thanks guys, that's reassuring. I think it's more possible that he cut himself on the gravel, than that he cut himself on the slatestone. I do have a lot of slatestone in my tank but every sh*tty piece had it's edges treated with a sandingmachine. (i still cough when i think of the dust that came of...

Is my Gastromyzon injured or sick? (pics incl.)
I could use some help, please. I have a Gastromyzon ( I think he's a Farragus) and he looks injured to me. It looks as if he has 2 tiny cuts from the side and from above it looks like a hole. He is also a bit skinnier than usual. Wednesday he looked fine, thursday he got the wound and the next day h...

It's been 2 hours ago since i fed them the algae gel block from Tetra. My first impression is that i'm not convinced. It was mushy instead of solid. I smeared the gel on a stone but it was not what i expected it to be. My fanshrimps and Stiphodons liked it and also my Gastromyzons and Beaufortias tr...
