Road Trip--Day 1 ends. Day 2 begins

Shari got into Indy late yesterday and rounded up Jim and Sully at a Crackerbarrel . A fine meal was enjoyed. Shari's daughters sampled the Rib-Eye. An item for which CB is well known at Interstate exits across the country. After much talking at the table, the gathering moved to the comfort of the p...

Curtis, I use Ocean Clear cannisters on a 225-gallon tank. I have two because I keep some eartheaters in there. Messy devils. I backwash the cannisters on a monthly basis. every 6 to 9 months I take the mechanical aspect out of the cannister and actually spray it clean with a hose. I love the way th...

Tank crowding (space/stress), Water quality (waste and the ensueing disease potentials), and diet (what is and is not fed) all play i...

if you started a regime of antibiotics you have to finish it. You may create interesting treatment resistant strains of bacteria if you don't. Sort of like with people.

I don't know what specific brand you were using--the regime usually runs 5-7 days.

try to make sure that there is good aeration/water flow in the 55. and, it might be a good idea to get a 10-gallon qt tank. when you get new fish they really need to go to a qt environment. It helps avoid the issue of introducing pathogens into an established community that could wipe the tank out a...

you picked a pretty good basic antibiotic to use. sort of tame--be careful to watch your ammonia/nitrite levels--it can kill the bio filter depending upon the strength. Cloudly eyes can often be cleaned up with nothing more than scrupulous attention to water quality. Lot of good gravel vacs and wate...

the front tank is a freshwater tank. On the opposite side is a 1,000 gallon marine tank. Sort of cool to walk in that store. now they just need to learn how to make the effort to provide better care and stocking.

Another one gets added to the list--lol.

they have 38 pages of fish--it will take a bit of time to add them to the spreadsheet. Might be a bit of fun once we start talking to them. Hopefully as PETsMART begins to get finalized it will help us deal more quickly with others.

interesting comments about BGK's. I might want to try one again---no I really won't. I kept a BGK. Once mine hit 14" he got very aggressive. It could not stand geophagines (with the exception of "microgeophagus species). It attacked and nearly killed the alpha clown loach--I ended up swapping tanks ...
