from my experience with SAE's as they got older they ate more food that i fed my other fish than algae itself...

which powerhead?

There are many brands out on the market but, was wondering which one you guys prefer? I am going to be using it to provide some current for my loaches, they are presently in a 100 gallon tank. Any opinions or input would be much appreciated thanks in advance! :D

for that, that would be hardcore.... chances of getting lepto and for the fact that i dont drive ... also dont know if these fish are protected or in private property...

Well to be honest most people tend to try to stay away from streams. But, probalby if you go deep into valleys you may find somethings but, its kinda of an pain in the butt places...

Never thought of getting native spieces of fish... Besides i think most of these fish are either in places hard to get at or are on the other islands(Big Island, Maui, or Kauai).

Never seen "pitbull pleco" and sicyopterus in any of the LFS around here. Most common is only the BN pleco, SAE, chinese algae eater, ottos, and other variant kinds of plecos. Wish had a chance to try these guys out hehehe :lol: Much Mahalos for the replies

Dont think that I have seen Panda Garras in Hawaii but, wouldn't mind having them. :D In this tank i"m going to be having mostly only clowns, and sids. Maybe a shoal of Harlequin Rasboras... Anyways thanks for all of the replies, will be mostlikely leaning towards a BN or two hehe. Mahalos

In my tanks its primarily brown and green spot algae. Im probalby leaning towards the bushynose...? Had prior experiences with chinese algae eaters and they tend to not algae after they get a certain size also, like you said got aggressive. Thanks for the reply and for all of the info :D

I know this has came up time after time but, really am debating on which one.... I know the bristlenose pleco is one, chinese algae eater is another, siamese algae eater, ottos, am i missing anything? Just got a 100g tank and want to keep if algae free. Yeah these guys are going into the 125g tank that has my 8 alittle bigger clowns. Hopefully ALL of them will be healthy enough to join them soon!

thank you for the response diana. yeah i kinda figured that i had to treat the whole grow out tank... funny though the two other clowns are always at each other. before eating, after, and even when i do water changes! all the sids do is watch them squabble haha. again thank you

About 3 months ago i purchased 3 clowns about 1in long. Have them in a grow out tank a 33 long with some sids and acouple of ottos. Two months go by and sids are healthy, ottos doing great and two of the three clowns look to be getting bigger than the third. Couple weeks go by and notice a black spo...
