Well, it's a month and three weeks later and I'm declaring the war over. I'm still lowering the salinity back down slowly, and all my surviving fish are out and about acting back to normal! :D Before adding the salt I lost 4 female preacox and 2 clown loaches. After salt... total improvement. I saw ...

Some people might not agree with the ethics of this but If you can find a UV light locally I would buy it on a credit card and then return it before your payment is due. That's exactly why we can't afford things like insurance anymore, abuse of the system that's designed to protect the consu...

Well, I see little other option. I'm going to start treating with salt. I thought I had this thing beat but now my smallest kubotai looks infested. I've followed all the rules... done relentlesss sand cleaning and water changes... medicated... increased temp... 12hr interval medicating.... I give up...

Re: I must confess, it's all my fault.
When you didn't get a UV sterilizer. Indeed... Next on the list is a ehiem classic, then uv... Lost another preacox this morning, and only one still shows spots. 2 males, 3 females left. If they survive I'm going to try to breed them... The other little clown didn't make it, so I'm down to one. (at...

I must confess, it's all my fault.
Well everything was going so well. My new 55 river tank was set up and running. Got through cycling the tank with preseeded media, 7 preacox, and 1 clown loach. (he wasn't supposed to go in for a while but here's where it all started) The clown loach had stowed away on a log from their old tank desp...

Thanks everyone for your help, we went with the praecox.... and so far we love them. Unfortunately I had a mishap in getting them settled in. Our biggest little clown loach ("Moe") stowed away on a tank decoration as I moved it into the new 55g last night. I swear I shook it off and double checked f...

I have a 5.5 gal heated betta tank set up and want to add an otto, but wasnt sure if I should make it 2 instead. Otto's prefer large groups, and a healthy 5.5g wouldn't likely produce enough algae to keep them well fed. I wouldn't recommend it. The trouble with new ottos is that they don't aclimate...

Sadly I don't know of any local breeders. Just the box stores and a very arrogant lfs. I don't like doing business with either, however one local petsmart has an excellent manager in the fish department. Everything is very clean and well maintained. I'd prefer to not spend my budget on shipping for ...

Thanks for the replies! O.K. so thats: 2 for rasbora 1 for rainbow fish and 1 against danios. I like that danios are active, but I don't want to stress out the 3 little clowns. There's also 4 kubotai moving in first, and most likely one of my bn plecos will stay in there a while too. So thats 8 bott...

Clown tankmates
Hi all, new to this forum. I've got a 55g show tank that my small clowns will grow out in. I'm looking for something small to medium sized that schools in tight groups in the mid to upper levels. Been looking at platys online but they don't seem to "school". Any recommendations?
