Spawning - what is the cue?

It seems to be fairly easy to get botiine loaches ready to spawn - decent conditions and good food lead to very, very egg-laden females with massive protruding bellies. I currently have hugely pregnant Zebras, Sids, Histrionica and Kubotai. The problem is getting them to do anything with those eggs....

My males have a very strong red base colouration and a blocky forehead, whereas the females are more blueish and streamlined. Anyone know of any sources of Homaloptera (any species) in the UK at the moment? I've managed to get sucker-bodied hillstreams (Sewelia lineata, and some beautiful little loaches that were claimed to be Beaufortia kweichowensis but I suspect are something else), and they are doing very nicely in my ...

Very cool Jonas, does he take the food to the hole one piece at a time, or does he stash several bits of food and go back to eat it all later?
