For what it's worth, and it's obviously a bit late; Protozin has a really nasty piece of small print. The main instructions say to use X so much of the stuff per litre. Then the small print says to only use half this IF you're not using undergravel filtration.

Quick update 23/11/10

Changed meds 1 dose then 4 days later another dose but unfortunatly to late lost all my fish except for 1

7 clown loach
1 bristle nose cat fish
8 lemon tetra
4 orange tetra
1 knife fish
4 cherry barbs

I will echo the experienced members' sentiments.
Do not stop treating, keep going at least a WEEK after you see the spots are gone. With an outbreak that bad, it would probably be in your best interest to keep going the week after it's all gone. It sounds like you've got a very hardy ich; don't ...

SAD NEWS

Came home tonight from work had a look in the tank and to my horror
4 Clown loach died
1 Knife fish died
1 Cherry barb died

I am gutted had the clowns for over 5 years, A very sad day

There are a few tough super strains of ich. Some can stay in the white spot stage for several weeks, in which case you'll have to keep medicating for one week after all the spots are gone. The complete treatment time can easily last a month, possibly two months ...

Tetratec 700 external filter with carbon matter removed

Im running a tetratec 700 external filter the outlet is single and runs from the back to the middle of the tank, probally more movement at the top and middle than the bottom. will try it with the spray bar on to get more movement in the water, thanks for your help all appreciated. You must continue treating.
Medicines only kill Ich when it is in its free swimming stage.
Any spots (even 'just one') that are on the fish will fall off and reproduce, releasing hundreds of baby Ich organisms to re-infest the fish.

you should continue treating the water with the ich medication for atleast one week after you see the last ich spot. Stopping the treatment too early most often results in a relapse.
