I actually just cleaned them now, and I've been trying to do so as often as I can. I've been scouring Craigslist, and found a 55 setup that I might go ahead and buy, but I'm being very ambitious in watching a 125 gallon setup on ebay... question is just how to transport it (it's in my area) and if t...

Unfortunately, it is. If I knew where the cable for this digital camera was, I'd prove it. But then, I'm not at all proud of the environment for these fish (though they don't seem to mind). More shameful is that they've been in this tank for over a year because I haven't had more space for a bigger ...

lol I had a similar occurence happen. A couple, actually. On one occasion, I was cleaning out the plant tank (we had a fish store in our hours for a while, and the plant tank had live planst, snails, and come madly breeding guppies) and this thing shot up our of the water at my face. Turns out it wa...

I just wish the vanishing would stop since loaches are so expensive! Anyways, yes, all these fish are in a 30 gallon. I'm horribly ashamed of it, but it was all I could manage after moving them from Alaska to Philadelphia on the airplane when I had to go to college. I'm working on getting a 55 gallo...

Thank you, that site has a great selection (though there are still other loaches I'm very interested in owning).

Finding loaches to buy

Where does everyone get there loaches? I see all these neat species of loach that I woulddearly like to have, but all the fish stores here are terrible (got stiffed in one today) and I'm lucky if they even carry clowns. I've been wanting a yoyo and some striatas but no one here has them. I can forge...

I can imagine the distress you must be feeling. I've had all kinds of clown loach problems over the years, and I've certainly lost a lot of them too. But I have managed to hang on to my two oldest (10 and 5-6 years old) so that they've been through everything--fin rot, ich, velvet, and another unkno...

I never could figure out this vanishing act...

I've kept fish (mainly loaches) for quite a while. I'd liek to think of myself as an expert, but I know I'm not, even though I also helped take care of a private fish store for 5 years. But there's something I just never could figure out. I've gone from a 55 gallon to a 90 gallon back down to a 30 g...

Loaches in stores

Yeah I live in a really bad loach area (Philadelphia and Langhorne). I don't ever even see Kuhli loaches, never weather loaches, just one skunk (which I bought), some clowns, and only on Botia Angelicus (the Myanmar loach?) I'm extremely disappointed that I can't even get a yoyo, much less any other...

Well, thanks to your info, sounds like the tapeworm/parasite theory might be ruled out. As I've mentioned, the skunk is definitely eating (though he seems to have a little trouble, the flakes go in and out of his mouth till he can swallow) but not gaining girth. I've had luck with anti-bacterial med...

Hmmm, I may try the Garlic Guard and algae pellets if the condition persists... unfortunately, I can't isolate him since the tank is situated in a temporary home and there no room to set up even a ten gallon. Live food might be real hard to come by until I can find the rights venues. But frozen food...

Sick skunk loach?

So, I had a pair of skunk loaches for probably 5-6 years, and recently I had to move with all my loaches to the East Coast for school. All the big loaches made the flight, but some of the smaller loaches didn't. One of the skunk loaches died. The one I had left was pretty big and fat and characteris...
