I've added more driftwood and created more/bigger caves. The 'crazy' loach is fighting right now and causing more flesh wounds on the current alpha and another big loach. I'm hoping it will stop soon once 'crazy' assumes the role of the alpha loach and the heirarchy is established.

Does anyone know ...

Thank you all for your advice -

It is only the one loach that can attack and cause flesh wounds - the others fight like all the others, by pushing, lip locking and circling around whilst greyed out.

This particular clown has always been dominant - was ranked 6th or 7th in size 2 1/2 years ago ...

Aggressive large clowns

Hi there,

I have 10 clown loaches in a 5ft 150G tank. I have had them for about 4 years and they range in length from 4-8 inches long. Other tankmates are 3 yo-yos and one med. sized Gourami.

I was about to say that I saw a couple of loaches flashing...but all in all they look o.k. It appeared like they had an itch on the side of the face that needed a scratch on the gravel. I've been increasing my frequency of water changes and they all seem happier :P .

Yep, I've seen my bigger clowns do this...about 3 or 4 times. Though mine did this 'shadowing' only in pairs. The above photos were taken of 'super loach' from my other loach tank... went back for another visit and was so intrigued I had to buy him. He has settled in really well, had his first brekky this a.m and doesn't act very shy at all...

The tail fin on this guy seems to overlap. I have another clown ...

My tank is 150G with 10 Clowns and 3 Yo-yos. Lighting is just standard. I'm guessing the biggest loach is about 6-7 inches long. Four are about 6 inches, two around 4-5 inches, and the smallest three about 4 inches. The plan is to get a new tank in the future so big I can dive in with ...

Seems to act normal...swimming is not impaired and he looks for food with the others in the group. Went to see one of the odd ball loaches again today.
