Re: loach tank set up - im new to this

In answer to the original question, you need to buy a 150 gallon tank and keep six Clown Loaches with a shoal of dither fish. If Clown Loaches are the fish you want to keep I don't know why you would do anything else.

Re: Long lived sucking loach

Hahaha! Loachloach, the thought of your fish responding to the sound of the door bell gave me the chuckles! A very sad end too. I bet his demise got you in a lather! (terrible I know). Parents and spouses are best kept out of this hobby. These days I am very lucky in this regard. My wife leaves aqua...

Re: Long lived sucking loach

Gyrinocheilus aymonieri is the latin name of the Sucking Loach or Chinese Algae Eater (SAE). Not now considered to be a true loach. Cypriniformes (Carps) > Gyrinocheilidae (Algae eaters) A Golden form is also farmed. My first encounter with this fish was in a community tank at my middle school posit...

Re: Long lived sucking loach

That's the oldest I heard about. I'm kind of pleased that somebody has had success with this fish which is often miss-sold.

Spinsheet lost his 26 year old Clown Loach

As per the title and attached link. Very sad. I am not asking him again how he knows the age of his fish at this difficult time. When I asked him previously he couldn't tell me how he knew it was 26 years old so it may be an estimate. https://www.fishlore.com/aquariumfishforum/threads/clown-loach-su...

I really like this picture its as though it was taken in the wild habitat and I appreciate the textures and movement of current captured not to mention the very pretty fish.

Re: Why can't I keep Sewellia Lineolata

These graze biofilm from smooth rocks don't they? If that's not abundant they may starve, not forgetting that they are often starving when purchased.

I believe they also need clean, fast flowing water.

Re: Different growth rate in the “teensy” clowns

Just to add the reassurance that I have not medicated my fish at all in the last 24 years.

I have never dewormed them for example.

I only add the correct dosage of prime at water change time, that is all.

In my experience a male Bristlenose will try to dominate and will stress other bottom feeders.

Re: Update on my loaches! With video

Good clips, I came back some time after my unsuccessful attempt to watch.

These are lovely loaches.

I also use small pellets and spread them over a wider area so the dominant fish can't stop others feeding.
