Re: Why's my pH so low?

It's because the water is being passed through a softener. This will remove the minerals that normally act to buffer the water and prevent/delay acidification. Check the kh of the well water and compare that to the kh of the water whichyou add to the tank. I'd also recommend doing more frequent wate...

Re: When will 5 clown loaches outgrow a 90 gallon?

Given a large enough tank, good diet and frequent water changes, the clowns will quickly outgrow a four footer. Anything less will retard their growth with implications for their health, so should be avoided and that means rehoming them rather than moving them from the 125G to the 90G.

Re: When will 5 clown loaches outgrow a 90 gallon?

The main issue with your new 90G is that it's only 48" long, which will give the clowns very little swimming space when fully grown (potentially 12"). On that basis I'd rehome them with the tank as you know they're going to a good home.

My alpha is between 8.5-9", but there are people on here with larger fish than that.

Like Diana I add the dechlorinator to the flow from the hose, although I only dose enough for the amount of water I'm replacing.

Works out to be about 153L, so would weigh about 150kg if full. I wouldn't risk it though if the cabinet is only rated at 100kg - too many problems if it gives way.

Their staple food is TetraPrima, but they'll eat most things with mussels and prawns probably their favourites.

I find the python makes water changes on my 400L and 240L much easier. I make sure I don't change too much at once to avoid a sudden change in temperature and add the dechlorinator directly to the tank next to the python. Other advantage is that whilst it's doing the heavy lifting for me I can use a...

Agree with starsplitter7 about adding the dechlorinator direct to the tank.

Other advantage to using the python is that after vaccing I can leave it to drain some more water and then refill the tank whilst I change a smaller tank with a bucket.

I use a python, which just attachs to the tap. Although the link is to a UK site the product itself is American so should be available over there.

Other thing to consider is that the sids will beat the corydoras to food every time and pig out on it, leaving the dwarf corydoras with very little.

I've had clowns eat at the surface before, including one that would swim upside down to do so.

I have a shoal of harlequins with my clowns and no problems. However the natural habitat of harlequins is gently flowing streams whilst clowns prefer more current.

Mine used to do that when I had them with a gravel substrate. They'd be searching through it looking for any food that they'd missed, but every so often they's manage to hit the glass with a piece!
