Re: Newbie wanting advice

A few kuhlis should be fine. The bristlenose doesn't get too terribly large, although in my tank it is the largest fish in there at about 5 inches total length.

Re: Runt Clown Fish NOT Growing

I'd suggest NOT applying any type of medication as you don't know what the issue is, or even if there is an issue. The only thing you have to go on is growth rate in a 6 month period.

Re: Camallanus Worms

Years ago I could only find levamisole in sheep deworming pills. It did the job, but it was messy as the pills were dyed yellow. If you end up going this route, I'd suggest crushing the pills and filtering the result through a coffee filter. http://aquaweb.pair.com/forums/archives/loach1/index.cgi?r...

They eat flies and winged insects. Not too many of those in my livingroom. :)

Damselfly

I bought some floating plants (amazon frogbit) for my tank a month or so ago. Apparently there were damselfly eggs in them. I saw the nymphs a few weeks ago, and was worried they would turn out to be dragonflies (and start eating fish). Thankfully that isn't the case. http://morbo.net/unsorted/damse...

Re: Why's my pH so low?

Actually, Craig, that is something I was considering. We have an undersink RO unit in the kitchen and it wouldn't be that hard to tap into it to fill a container for the aquarium. If I did that, would I have to add anything back into the water before I added it to the aquarium? I assume some of the...

Does anyone have experience with the Ottawa location(s)? I may take a jaunt over one of these days to check it out.

Re: julidochromis dickfeldi how big do thay grow ???

Julidochromis dickfeldi don't get very big, only about 3 inches or so, so you could consider this a dwarf cichlid.

Re: Why's my pH so low?

Cool beans, I was wondering about what kind of treatment was already in place. I had hard well water (with a high alkaline buffer) and a few filter types growing up, and found that it was easier for me to buy a 5gal(19L) bottle of water every week or two and mix with aged well water for changes. It ...

Re: Why's my pH so low?

Just curious, but what type of water treatment filters are you running? Just salt, or did you end up with greensand or potassium permanganate as well? If your water is that hard, I'd be surprised if the iron or maganese levels weren't high as well.
