Pangio oblonga swimming in circles
Does anyone know why my 3 black khuli loaches swim in anti-clockwise circles against the front glass? They seem healthy enough but just seem to do this for the fun of it, I also have 4 x banded khulis (pangio myersi) which keep to themselves & generally grub about in the undergrowth, which is the no...

Somiletes-gongota - cat eyed loach
Hi everyone & merry Xmas to you all, I have just received my bi-weekly newsletter from Aquarium Glaser (the German fish exporters) & this edition features a very unusual loach - Somiletes-gongota - also known as the cat eyed loach. you can find this at http:www.aquariumglaser.com What a cracking lit...

Re: kuhli lying on back
Hi, As it's just one fish behaving oddly I wouldn't be too concerned. I've had similar experiences with my Khulis in the past (they are prone to odd behaviour) - just do a 10 -15 % water change as a precaution. As a general guide: Check your Khuli for signs of unusually red gills or stomach discolou...

Re: Newbie with sun loving khuli loaches
I find that Kuhli's are much less shy when they are not competing for tank space with schools of larger fish. What I enjoy most about my kuhli's is how they constantly worm around in piles of large smooth river rocks that I have set-up for them. My loach tank, although heavily planted, contains man...

Re: kuhli loaches as ground crew.
My question would be, if they are ground crew, what else do you plan to keep with them? That would determine for me whether I would have Kuhlies. Up to you really, as long as the co-occupants are not too large or aggressive. I have a shaol of Hemigrammus Ocellifer, & a couple of sunset gouramis whi...

Re: Are Banded Kuhli Loaches less available now in the hobby
One theory that I have as to why Khulis don't ship well / or that they don't appear that often in LFS is that maybe wild caught specimens are captured by mild poisoning. It is well known to aquarists that khuli loaches (of all types) are very difficult to catch. Imagine trying to catch them in their...

Re: Are Banded Kuhli Loaches less available now in the hobby
I too love all Pangio's, I think they make a great addition to any community tank: Interesting behaviour, shape & the benefit of acting as ground crew to mop up any uneaten food. For a few years now, have not seen banded khulis for sale, but imagine my delight when I found some in my local LFS recen...

Re: kuhli loaches as ground crew.
I have 7 khulis in my 127 litre tank, I guess that I could add more if I wished, but I have allowed for some shoaling fish in the upper levels & of course the possibility of breeding. Personally, I have 3X Black khulis & 4x Banded Khulis, both species behave differently despite similarities. They mi...

Newbie with sun loving khuli loaches
Hi Everyone, I'm new to this site, though I have been keeping fish for over 25 years. I''l tell you all a little about myself, & the fish I keep. I used to show fish quite successfully, though I no longer do this. I used to have a "fish-house" with over 15 tanks running (happy days) though since mov...
