The word "Aufwuchs" from the Odysses's link sounds very German and means "stuff that grows up" or "grows on something". Germans use the same word. In Aufwuchs there lives also a lot of plancton. I think cleaning tanks too much may take out some important food source. Fish like Otocynclus and most l...

Mine do not eat the vegetables I give them, but they like all kinds of melons (perhaps because it´s soft?).
Try parboiling, i.e. boiling the veggies for a short time. This softens them without destroying all the vitamins and may make them more palatable for the fish.

Blind fish can be trained to know that you are there and are offering food if you tap on the tank in a certain pattern every time you feed, and only when you feed them. Golds can become almost like puppies, and this is true even if they are blind. They will still respond to you, if you let them kno...

Too bad about your Cory. What Diana says about dropsy is right. Dropsy: Fish's metabolism is not functioning well and the fish cannot get rid of excess water. It may leak out of the internal cells and the abdomen will be filled with fluid, and/or the whole fish can appear swollen, and the scales sti...

Wow, that sounds like the nuclear option. Blow the backside off a bullock much less a goby.

Sorry to be facetious. I am sure that the advice is good. :)

My English language skill is poor. Therefore,It is likely to sometimes misunderstand it. I would not worry too much about that. Your descriptions are perfectly clear. This is a very international site and we all get along using English whether it is our mother tongue or not. In your second last pic...

Bully's point about the 'white powder' may be spot on. You get your water in Colchester from Anglian and they report that practically all the water that they supply is hard or very hard.

Beautiful fish. The long sickle-shaped dorsal fin is similar to that of the Nemateleoptria genus of salt water gobies.

I've been trying to grow them in a glass frame but have been plagued by whitespot. I rented the movie but it has no helpful information.

Delicatessen, Local Hero, you are people of taste and discernment :D Why has no one mentioned The Sting? We have had some Kubrick but not Space Odyssey 2001 or Barry Lyndon which should win a prize for the score alone. Or for those who want to burst a gut laughing there are the Jacques Tati classics...

A great movie, but perhaps better in its parts than its whole.
I'm surprised no one mentioned Some Like it Hot, OTOH, maybe someone did :?
