Re: My kubotai dream coming true
Oh, thank you for all the nice words  :D I'm so glad you like my tank. Yes, the kubs seem to grow very slowly. How long should I expect before they are fully grown? They are all smaller than the yoyo I had some years ago which was 3 years old when I got it. I have no previous experience with k...

Re: My kubotai dream coming true
Now almost a year has passed by, and even though the fish seem to enjoy themselves, I have had some trouble with the tank, above all because of algae. Finally this summer I decided to get a co2 system, which actually turned out to be a challenge in many ways until I got it all up and running without...

Re: My kubotai dream coming true
Finally: pics! But oh my, it's awfully difficult to take photographs of the loaches. Mostly they just appear as blurry stripes all over the picture  http://akvariesiden.akvariefisk.dk/storage/akvarier/6D186589-F04A-5161-C6BF9414FE5CCA49.jpg http://akvariesiden.akvariefisk.dk/storage/akvarier/6D...

Re: My kubotai dream coming true
Actually, when I checked the instruction again, it read that I should only add more medicine today and then do a 30% water change tomorrow. I will, however, stick to the plan I posted the other day: add medicine today and tomorrow and change 40-50% on wednesday (and add filterstart bacteria). Then i...

Re: My kubotai dream coming true
The treatment seems to be going well :D Thank you for asking, Nancy. No visible signs of ich, no flashing, and they eat ferociously when fed. I still count 10 kubs, and a good handfull of sids (I am certain that the rest of them are just hiding. They are very small, there are lots of hiding places, ...

Re: My kubotai dream coming true
Unfortunately I only have Faunamor. Selling medicine has not been allowed for about a year in Denmark now, so I have to order any medicine from Germany or England. It usually takes 4-5 days for it to arrive here. I have quite a few different ones at home (just in case, I hardly ever use them), but F...

Re: My kubotai dream coming true
Ok, now I read both articles, and I understand that alone raising the temperature is not enough. I also understand why that 3 days is too little (strangely this was recommended on the product?!), and I hope that the 5 days I treated them helped a bit. I'll find another product for treatment (maybe F...

Re: My kubotai dream coming true
Well, actually the EshaExit treatment was recommended for only 3 days but with the possibility to prolong it if needed. I added it for 5 days before I made a 40% water change yesterday. It didn't really seem to work in the end. Now, after 22 hours by 31 C all the kubs look a lot better and the sids ...

Re: My kubotai dream coming true
EshaExit contains pr. 1 ml: - methylthioniniumchlorid 3.98 mg - ethacridinlactate 6.3 mg - malachite green oxalate 0.31 mg - methyl-rasoliniumchlorid 0.79 But unfortunately it's not enough  . There are still signs of ich on the poor fish, so I'll go for a heat treatment. 31 degrees C for 10 day...

Re: My kubotai dream coming true
Thank you both :D At last the white spots on the fins seem to disappear. Only one of the kubs still has a few left, so I'm going to prolong the treatment a bit just to be certain. And I'll take your advice, NancyD, and give them another treatment in a week's time. They all eat well and seem to enjoy...

Re: My kubotai dream coming true
Thanks for the advice, but it came a bit late ;) It seems, though, that the medicine hasn't harmed them. I used EshaExit because it seemed to be the most gentle product. It shouldn't damage the filter bacteria the way some of the other products sometimes do. If it doesn't work, I'll try Faunamor ins...

Re: My kubotai dream coming true
No it isn't :( I switched on the light today, just to discover that some of the kubs show clear signs of ich! Luckily I have different kinds of medicine, so I'll start the treatment right away. It was really difficult to find out about their condition on the fair, because the seller had kept them in...

Re: My kubotai dream coming true
Crossocheilus moved back to former tank, 10 kubs and 10 sids added to new tank. I'll hold my breath for the next few days. It's sooooo exciting

Re: My kubotai dream coming true
I am SO grateful for your advice and support :D It certainly is useful to know what to look out for when buying loaches, and it is a brilliant idea to move the crossocheilus back to the old tank (which in the meantime has been changed completely) for a while, although they definitely love the loach ...
