Re: Sewellia Marmorata

I am incredibly jealous of you guys who seem to find any cool species of Hillstream loach. I recently almost got a good group of Sewellia breviventralis but they died in the shop, in quarantine. One survived. EDIT: Make that Sew03 or some similar looking one Another shipment with mixed species inclu...

Re: First Hillstream tank (loaches and Gobies)

Fantastic! I'd go great lengths to get my hands on some other species. There were 2 S. speciosa in a shop a while ago but went to a ''breeder'' before I found out about them :(

Re: First Hillstream tank (loaches and Gobies)

Sewellia fry -esitmated 7mm- and some unidentified fry -estimated 2mm- (too small, obviously. By the looks of it it could be half of a human fry as well :P) http://imagehost.losias.net/images/IMG6745.jpg http://imagehost.losias.net/images/IMG6747.jpg http://imagehost.losias.net/images/IMG6772.jpg ht...

Re: New Hillstream tank - attempt at breeding G. ocellatus

Ah I see. It's a pity that these types of fish are so hard to find and mostly in such bad condition.

I really hope you manage to breed these fish and make some history!

Re: River-tank manifold questions

I've been running a manifold design for 3 years and the pipes does not get clogged. That's why you hve filter sponges on it, but what can happen is that snails get into the pipeline. I have to pull out the powerhead while it is on, so that it sucks the snails out. To help the manifold to stay uprigh...

Re: How to teach (hillstream) loaches to eat veggies?

Damn, I really don't know. I don't have a test kit but I am sure I can test it with a pool pH kit? Our tapwater pH is around 8 but very very soft so it drops quickly.

Re: My Sewellia lineolata, sewellia spotted and their FRY

I bought a little manual pepper grinder and put high quality sinking wafers and protein crumble into it, and set the grinder to a medium grind setting and ground some food up. I have now found that if I grind it into a container (that has a lid), and add some tank water, I can then shake the contai...

Re: How to teach (hillstream) loaches to eat veggies?

Yes, I also have a few P.cheni fry as you have seen in my Hillstream tank thread. I can see that the Sewellias can handle them fine - it's just the fact that the only come out once the P.cheni is less active (late night) and they ignore to food I give. I have some spinach prepared like you suggested...

Re: My Sewellia lineolata, sewellia spotted and their FRY

Mattyd, how did you get your sewellias used to eat your foods and not just live off the algae? I got some Sewellia lineolata a few days ago but they ignore my spinach leaves and algae tablets.
