Re: 30 gallon stocking suggestions
Thanks so much for all your help! I am currently working on installing my foam board background from designsbynature. I'm still having issues with the technical aspects of it and making sure the flow rates are OK. I don't even know that my design makes complete sense haha. We'll see. I may end up po...

Re: 30 gallon stocking suggestions
OK, so I went to a fish store and stared at the neon tetras for a good 10 minutes. I ended up deciding that they didn't appeal to me as much as I'd hoped. Could be that in the fish store they weren't really happy, but I think I decided against them for now. I am thinking of going with 10x Harlequin ...

Re: 30 gallon stocking suggestions
Thanks, how many would you recommend for a 30 gallon aquarium? Also, I am thinking about possibly doing black neon tetras or just neon tetras. Any opinion on those (i.e. how many, if they are ok in the tank I described, etc.)? Thanks again! I have a large school of the Harlequins (30) and really lik...

Re: 30 gallon stocking suggestions
It's a 30gallon tall. I am thinking of adding a power head to create more movement in the upper half. Are there any other species you would recommend for the school? If this is a long, breeder or even a standard shaped tank there is room for more bottom fish. Pick either/or, not both options. Emeral...

Re: 30 gallon stocking suggestions
Thanks! I am leaning toward the harlequin rasboras but am also trying to look into some other schooling mid level fish. Any other suggestions (other than barbs)? I love all your options, but feel I would choose the Harlequin Rasboras for midwater colour and movement that would complement your existi...

30 gallon stocking suggestions
Hi everyone, I'm upgrading the two tanks that I currently have to a single 30 gallon tank. I have to put the background panel in and allow the aquarium sealant to dry so I have some time. I am trying to decide how to stock the tank. I've been using http://aqadvisor.com to make sure I have adequate f...

Re: Kuhli Loaches, what species?
How cute! They look great. Don't be surprised if some of your shrimp go missing... My loaches have orchestrated the "disappearance" of many shrimp that happened upon their aquarium.

Re: Hello Loach folk--input please for a 20 gal. long tank
I think Pangio oblongas would be nice. Maybe 10 of them.

Re: Kuhli Loaches, what species?
They look like Pangio kuhlii to me. They tend to be more shy than Pangio oblonga (also known as the Java loach), but when in established groups they become rather boisterous. I know I'm really late on this thread, but I would recommend adding some tall plants, maybe some amazon sword that can grow u...

29g tank filter suggestions? ...And other questions (+Pics)
Hi Everyone, I haven't been active in this community for quite some time, but I wanted to get everyone's opinion on a few things. I am upgrading my aquarium, I used to have a 20g high tank with 5 Pangio oblonga and 2 Pangio kuhlii , along with some other miscellaneous fish. Three moves later I had m...

Thanks! It was very stressful because I was worried about the fish. But thankfully everything went well.

One move later and a tank update
Hi Everyone, I moved about two months ago and that of course meant taking my 20 US gallon high tank with me. This was somewhat of a difficult task because my stock is as follows: 5 Pangio oblongas 1 Pangio kuhli 5 Puntius tetrazonas 2 Gyrinocheilus aymonieri (I know I know they are not good fish to ...

Re: My 20 US gallon high tank + Loach pictures
Foster and Smith, and Pet Solutions both have printed catalogs as well as online. You can request one free, I believe. They sell aquatic plants, but you have to ask specifically for the aquarium catalog for F&S, because they also put out a separate one for ponds. Unless you'd like to try some pond ...

Re: My 20 US gallon high tank + Loach pictures
Your loaches are beautiful. Have you considered floating live plants, such as hornwort or anacharis (elodea) to add to those which are planted in the substrate? I really like the way your tank looked when you had the fakes in it, primarily because of the vivid green floater. It framed your visual s...

My 20 US gallon high tank + Loach pictures
Hi Everyone, I have finally gotten around to posting some pictures of my tank and some of my favorite loach pictures. Enjoy! http://sphotos.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash3/531186_10150743524120670_634320669_9918378_1114379325_n.jpg A frontal view of my tank (almost fully converted to real plants). http://...
