Re: ICH med recomendations for Clown loaches
Whatever you do, increase the aeration while medicating. That's the reason the meds don't recommend high temperatures while treating because they suck up the oxygen from the water.

Re: kh and gh relative to clown loaches
I wouldn't rely on test strips one bit to be honest. If you really try to attempt the very hard task to alter your water parameters, then you need to be sure that what you are measuring is correct, so no test strips should be used as a start off point. But raising those is fairly easy if you don't d...

Re: Clown Loaches Brackish Water
That's odd. From what I've read they can barely tolerate salt during ich treatment so I can't imagine them being brackish. They probably will survivve for a while, a few weeks or longer, I don't even want to test to try. So if they were indeed clown loaches, maybe someone just dumped them there...ir...

Re: Decor for clown loaches?
As suggested by DainBramage maybe some PVC pipes covered with gravel using some aquarium silicone, and even moss and anubias on top would make the natural looks and please the loaches too.

Re: How many clown loaches "Max" would be ok?
Yes, I understand that. I meant if you add more fish that can grow to the size of clown loaches. It happens gradually. One day the filters stop coping with the bioload because the bioload has increased beyond what they can deal with. It's clown loaches we are talking about, so they do grow. It's a p...

Re: How many clown loaches "Max" would be ok?
That's exactly how I calculated it. You have a 125G tank and have about 680G/H filtration. 680 devided by 125 makes 5.44. When I researched your filters, it came out at 5.2 when I calculated because the info for the HOB 60 I found said it's 300G/H, not 330. And the real flow of a filter is about hal...

Re: How many clown loaches "Max" would be ok?
I have over 10x the water volume an hour in both my larger tanks, the 4f has an additional powerhead that makes the flow about 20x the water volume an hour in total and I've never seen a fish getting sucked in or bothered too much. In fact, even small fry survive and live just fine and don't struggl...

Re: How many clown loaches "Max" would be ok?
I would think you can push it more space wise but I am not sure about the actual water volume of your tank. If it's 6x2x2, then these two filters may not be enough as they give you 2500L/H filtration on a tank that holds 650 litres which barely gives you 4x the water volume an hour. With fish that p...

Re: Question about Clown Loach behavior
Mine aren't as old but they do it all the time too, for the last year at least with no ill effect. If you added more loaches, which are more outgoing, I've read that they can trigger the older lazy ones to be more playful too. The less skittish ones you have, the more playful the loaches. Test your ...

Re: Officially a Herd?
Thanks for the pictures Tony. They do appear cropped for some reason. Maybe try resizing them before uploading to photobucket or imageshack. You can even go better and upload a video in youtube or wherever suits you :) I would love to see some more after they settle. They've got plenty of hiding spa...

I think there's one moderator here. I'll try to find the name.
Edit: I think the last time there was a problem, Jim Powers was fixing stuff.

Re: Update with good news, and maybe some bad news
I wouldn't worry about the Ph. As long as it doesn't fluctuate, it shouldn't be a problem. The TDS is what's important. But I would measure the Ph once it sits over night in an open container like a glass. For example my tap water straight out of the tap is 6.6ppm. When I let that sit in a glass ove...
