I am so sorry to hear that. Did she show any other signs?
On a side note, what age was she? Its interesting that she had eggs, so they may not need to be a humongous size to be capable of breeding after all. Not that it will happen easilty, but every little bit counts.

Re: New loach lover. Some pics and videos
He, he. Maybe it's some type of sign language? They always do it in the corner next to the sofa where I am sitting so they are trying to tell me something.... (I actually took the video from there)
I should probably feed them some blood worms or possibly buy them a piano

Just one more video from today below. I've no idea what is the excitement with the curved glass. They never get tired of it.

Re: Update with good news, and maybe some bad news
I am really glad the fish are better. That must have been horrible to experience. Why did you treat them in the first place? Medications aren't harmless at all. You said the khulis are fine so whatever it is, it may not be from them at all. Flashing/scraping, frail fins are not only signs of ich but...

Re: Update with good news, and maybe some bad news
I think you are stressing over nothing. You obviously have had bad experience with ich. Fortunately I have never dealt with it and I've put fish unquarantined many times for the simple reason that I believe stress is more important. Travelling from a long distance to reach the fish shop, kept in una...

Re: Update with good news, and maybe some bad news
If the snails carried something that uses them as an intermediate host, chances are it died if the snails had no fish friends in the tank for quite a while. Most fish diseases are caused by stress of some kind. An aquarium no matter what you do, is full of pathogens. Fish immune system deals with it...

Re: 75 gallon tank with clown loaches
Also on that website: A tank with base measurements of 180(70.8") ∗ 60 cm or equivalent is the absolute minimum required to house a group, and young specimens should only be grown on in smaller aquaria if several partial water changes are conducted each week. Correct. This is the accepted norm for ...

Re: 75 gallon tank with clown loaches
I don't know how creditable this info is,but here is what seriously fish says about clown loaches maximum size: Maximum Standard Length Supposedly exceeds 400 mm but reports from its native rivers suggest an average adult size between 200 – 305 mm, borne out by the largest aquarium specimens we know...

Re: 75 gallon tank with clown loaches
I am partly consoled by the fact that I have read an account by a scientist who researched the Clown Loach native habitat and talked to local fishermen who actually told him that the adult Clown Loach they caught were between 8" and 10" in length. I wish I were able to reference it here but I was l...

Re: New loach lover. Some pics and videos
This is a very nice tank with happy fish boxercrazy. I actually had a breakthrough with mine. I switched off a 2800L/H powerhead for other reasons and since then the clowns can't get enough of it. I think my clowns are not a fan of a very strong flow although there's still 10x the water volume an ho...

Re: Anyone only have 1 Clown Loach?
I am using a digital thermometer. The brand isn't on it, it just says digital aquarium thermometer. I think I paid 20 quid for it some long time ago. But I also have a TDS meter(AP-1: AquaPro Water Quality Tester) which tests the temperature as well and both show exactly the same temperature. It's i...

Re: Anyone only have 1 Clown Loach?
Thank you. Well the temperature in my tank is normally about 78.8, 79 max and I've never had health issues but since I've had mine for less than a year I can't speak from experience really. All I know is they seem fine to me and have grown lots since purchase. This is them below: http://www.youtube....

Re: Anyone only have 1 Clown Loach?
What NancyD says is exactly right, but I'd like to add that in my experience clown loaches do seem to get a bit stressed when the tank temp is below 80 F, which can make them more susceptible to illness. I run my setup at 81-82 degrees, and Would you please specify what you have observed as "being ...
