Re: Anyone only have 1 Clown Loach?

Is the temperature so important to the succeptibility of clown loaches to ich? My tank varies between 77 and 79, definately never over or below that range and they haven't got ich either, even when I got them.

Re: Clown Loach Growth Rate

Odd isn't it :D
There's no way I would have tried that if it wasn't for the algae. Poor clowns love some sunny wheather. The hurricane is over

Re: Clown Loach Growth Rate

Hi Marcos, I thought I'd pop in because I think I accidentally found out what the problem with my shy clown loaches was. I was fighting green spot algae for ages and in the process I ended up turning off the koralia powerhead as it was doing mechanical damage to the plants that it was blowing at, ca...

Re: New loach lover. Some pics and videos

Thanks all. Sorry for the late reply, I haven't been around for a while. I surely hope the clown loaches will not destroy everything as they grow but so far so good. When I first put them in, in a week time they had made punching holes in everything bar the anubias. I started feeding with lots of al...

Re: New loach lover. Some pics and videos

My forktail rainbows are still babies and need to grow but they are absolutely gorgeous and actually pretty funny to watch.
I love their blue eyes in contrast with the yellow tales, very sparking looking. I saw the adult ones in a display tank in the shop and it was a stiking view.

Re: New loach lover. Some pics and videos

I got 10 blue-eyed forktail rainbows as dither. They surely swim at the top :D But they are still babies so they need to grow a bit first. They were in the tank for a few hours only and when I came back I saw everyone out being very excited, out and swimming around the place, including the corys. Th...

Re: Clown Loach Info Correction

The temperature in my tanks in the summer was 29-30 degrees for 2-3 months at least and the fish behaved just fine, quite active, including the clown loaches, corys, guppies, pleco, platies. But I've got all tanks overfiltered with a lot of water and surface movement. It seems that it's not the high...

Re: Clown Loach Growth Rate

I just calculated, and I actually have 0.35W of light per litre, so not much at all. It's just too bright for such a low light. Don't know what lights to buy really. Most plants I have like low light but the tank is deep and not everything at the bottom will get enough if I decrease it further which...

Re: Clown Loach Growth Rate

I actually did quite recently but made a bad job out of it picking them. They are just slightly less brighter than the previous set. I am not sure what to look for when selecting the type to make sure the plants will be ok and also the light is as dim as possible. I don't even like bright lit tanks ...

Re: Clown Loach Growth Rate

Yes, the bright lights are definately spooking them. I've got a lot of floating plants growing only recently but once they cover the surface it will block quite a bit of light. There are shady areas too and the clown loaches started to get out from time to time when the lights are on, even chilling ...

Re: Clown Loach Growth Rate

I know. In the beginning they destroyed almost all soft leaved plants. But since I started feeding them a lot of algae wafers and vegetables along with the other protein food 50/50, they surprisingly stopped. They haven't touched the plants in 3-4 months and they all grew back. I am using liquid car...

Re: Clown Loach Growth Rate

I do have a problem making them come out when the lights are on(besides at feeding time when they don't care or when the corys are spawning they follow for cory eggs.) The tank lights are quite bright unfortunately, it's a planted tank, but they've come a long way recently with the addition of some ...

Re: Clown Loach Growth Rate

Do you mean that them playing in a group up and down the tank glass is a stressed behaviour? The water parameters are spot on. I haven't had ammonia and nitrIte over 0 since setup of this tank a year ago and the tank suffers from very low nitrAtes(0-5ppm) so had to dose up for the plants but it bare...

Re: Clown Loach Growth Rate

I know it is an old thread, but just wondering about the dimensions of a clown loach tank except for holding a good volume of water. I've only had mine for a lot less than a year but when these guys play, they love the height of the tank. Mine is extra high, over 65cm(25.6 inches) tall and my small ...
