I got one and he was a little "blown away" at first by the current but he has found places to travel thru and hang out where he can filter food. So, if anyone else is interested, they seem to do OK.

I had a few Sewellia for a few years and am wanting to get more of them or Gastromyzon for my hillstream tank. I want to know if there is any big differences between them. Sewellia seem to cost about twice as much, I'm wondering why? Anyone recommend one genus over the other?

In my experience Hara species are not strong enough swimmers for a strong current like a hillstream setup. They are also VERY secretive and will only come out if provided with lots of cover-plants, rocks, wood etc., they dont like open spaces.

Thanks for the replies. I had thought that turning the powerheads off/on daily wouldn't work because maybe not everyone would want to eat at the same time, especially the shy guy. But I'll certainly give it a try, maybe he will be easy to train.

Actually they are very brightly colored in regular light, and the "special" light is just a blacklight, you can buy one at walmart for around $10. You don't have to buy the high dollar LED light.
