Amazing Grace 2003 to now

It's been a while since I posted. I just snapped a new picture of Gracie, to update her photo album.

Re: CLOWN LOACH BREEDING????

I just reviewed many of those videos on Facebook. To me, it looks like typical "boss" clown loach behavior, where they are competing for both food and space. As for the digging, your fish are simply looking for food in the gravel. It could be leftovers, but could also be live things as snails, worms...

That was my point also. I said all along that they migrate.

Re: Clown loaches in the wild

It's not Mars here we're talking about. Blackwater habitats are suitable for many fish. Seems that loaches will eat about anything. Mosquito larvae or bloodworms. Other insects/bugs, worms, mollusks, crustaceans, other fish, small frogs, tadpoles, lizards, or just scavenging the meat from dead crocs...

Re: Clown loaches in the wild

Staying on topic, one reason for the lack of clown loach videos in the wild is that clowns love to hide. Mine will hide almost all day long. Some only come out at night when the lights are off. They probably have even better hiding places out in the wild.

Re: Clown loaches in the wild

The point taken was about the habitat being in "blackwater", not about coloration.

Re: Clown loaches in the wild

I thinks it's just the opposite to your conclusion. The monsoon season's duration is the majority of the year. It's the dry season which forces the fish to migrate.

Re: Clown loaches in the wild

Have you seen this old thread: http://forums.loaches.com/viewtopic.php?t=3684 In some research which I did 10+ years ago, I found out that Clown Loaches native name is Ulang Uli or Ulanguli. Haven't really done much research since then, but I'm noticing that much of the information has disappeared f...

Re: Clown loaches in the wild

The rivers in these tropical forests are rich with dark tannins also. The peat soil in those regions is around 50ft thick. The forests are thousands and thousands of years old.

Re: 16 inch Clown Loach

The owner of my lfs said he had some huge clown loaches brought in from a customer years ago. Length wise, they were from his fingertip to elbow and girth was size of a grapefruit. Estimated to be about 18" long. I believe him. In a large pond, with an unlimited food source, good clean water, and no...
