Sewellia lineolata only tank + ancistrus cirrhosus?

Hi there, I've got a 200l breeding tank for sewellia lineoalata. I'm about to give up my other tank, which has a male bristlenose catfish Ancistrus cf. cirrhosus, among other fish. I'm thinking about moving the ancistrus to the 200l tank, rather than selling it (for a euro or so is what I paid for i...

Fighting algae in a plantless river flow tank? Should I?

Recently, the walls are slowly becoming covered by that green hard stuff.

What should I do? It's a dedicated sewellia river tank. How do you keep the panels algae-free in a river tank where the loaches depend on the algae to survive?

Re: Is your hillstream tank water clear?

I have also two canister filters now so it's pretty much overfiltered.

It's a new tank. Upon closer inspection, the water isn't green, but rather cloudy with greyish milkl colour.

I read that it might be due to a bacterial bloom, common in new tanks.

I'll wait and see.

Re: Is your hillstream tank water clear?

Is there no other way?

Do all the hillstream tanks have to have an UV filter?

Is your hillstream tank water clear?

I have a recently-set-up 50 gal sewellia tank. Lights are on for 12h and I recycle in rocks which have algae growth. This is to make algae grow as food for the sewellia. However, it also seems to turn my water hazy, a sort of hazy grey or greenish. How do I make the water clear while still having al...

Sewellia lineolata, temp (again)

Just curious, why does the loaches.com species profile for this species list the ideal temp at 20-23.8C although (what I've read here) people (Jim, Emma) have had most success at breeding them in temps like 24-26C. I am a new 200l sewellia tank owner with 8 fish in (4 guys, 4 gals) and would like to...

Re: Hillstream / river tank (sewellia)

I will have a 50 gallon sewellia tank with Koralia evolution 2800, a small eheim powerhead and the filter. Together the water turnover is at 4000l/h. Round gravel substrate so it doesn't get blown away. No plants. I thought sewellia liked the highest flow. Are there loaches that like even higher flow?

Hillstream / river tank (sewellia)

Hello, New here. I have a lonely sewellia in my cichlid tank, but I'd like to give him a new home (and some mates). I'm about to get hold of a 52 gal tank. I read about a manifold river design, but it looks quite complicated. What about Koralia powerheads? How many and of which size would you put in...
