Re: Suddenly territorial goby...

Thanks for replying. I think it may he a sudden change in parameters that males him more territorial. I did a WC yesterday and today his colours seem more defined and he's being a lot more territorial than he was last week. I think he'll hopefully calm down after a day or two....that seemed to happe...

Suddenly territorial goby...

Hi all, one of my gobies (a male s. Atropurpurpeus) has suddenly become really territorial. For a week or so he'd let all the gobies into his territory but now he can't stand the sight if them near his area. How can I stop this and why do you think this change suddenly happened?

Re: Why does my female stiphodon gobies change colour?

Thankyou for replying. That's interesting to know, perhaps by changing colour it is expressing an 'emotion' (I say emotion, not a literal one but a fish one if that makes sense)? Edit: this may be a bit random but (if you have one) do your fish like to play in the airstone? I've found that if my gob...

Why does my female stiphodon gobies change colour?

Every so often this happens. And suddenly they'll go back yo normal. They also exhibit different behaviour whilst in this other colour phase.

Re: Stiphodon genus of the Goby

Here is a nicer picture of my tank. I went for a real hillstream look. I did this by placing large rocks at random points and filling in between these with smaller rocks yo create runs. Tank: http://imgur.com/gAXBE4L I'm hoping that by having decent hiding spots, a natural look and a fairly high sto...

Re: Stiphodon genus of the Goby

Thankyou for helping :)

I just picked up 7 s. Semoni and they seem to be getting along with the other gobies fine. I wonder if this will be the same after a few days...

I don't care about aquascape.
What I mean is how did you place the wood and rocks before planting the tank to create hiding spots?

Re: Stiphodon genus of the Goby

Thankyou for replying :) My tank has a lot of algae in it (I too leave the light on for 14 hours a day). Would my tank have enough hiding spaces to add a group of 5 stiphodon semoni? I already have 5 s. Ornatus, 1 r. Duospilus and 1 Lentipes sp.? Sorry there's loads of algae on the glass I'm growing...

Tank size for dwarf chain loach

Hello! I have a tank, 45x30x45cm, available. Would these loaches be okay in it? Do you have any suggestions on small loaches if they aren't okay? Cheers

Re: Stiphodon genus of the Goby

So my gobies are available to collect now. Apparently they look healthy and active and their stomachs are "normal sized". I've even had reports that the gobies actually scavenge these algae flakes that the LFS workers put into the tank; who'd have thought they actually eat flake food already! I gues...

Re: Stiphodon genus of the Goby

Hello odyssey - I tried to pm you but it didn't send for whatever reason. When you see this can you answer these questions: 1) What size is the tank? 2) what gobies do you have in there? 3) Possibly share one of your emails with me so that I can message you about something to do with my hillstream b...
