Re: playfull behaviour or intended murder?

I will start looking for a good home for the fry, and for the whole ancistrus family too. I signed up with some local fora, since that would be the best place to find knowledgeable enthousiasts, to give each specific fish a suitable home. The pair of bristlenoses are about 8 years old, coming from m...

Re: I bought clown loach Number 7

The enzymes in human spit prevent sticking of silicone glue very well, better than water in my experience. I always spit on my finger  when sealing enginesumps etc at work, a trick used by most mechanics. On youtube you can also find a lot of usefull tips for resealing glass tanks. Look for th...

I dont know the first thing about these fish, but wow, they look good. Always as active as in the videos? They only look slghtly larger than the red cherrys. Is that max size, or is the camera tricking me?

Re: I bought clown loach Number 7

A leak? That must be a nightmare. The fish are lucky you have a suitable backup. No collateral damage?
On the other hand, a nicd chance to redecorate. Most aquarists always want to improve existing tanks. Do you have new ideas?

Re: playfull behaviour or intended murder?

And an update here aswell. because of redoing the sump system, the next rainbow went into the main tank. It was the only one left. The smaller one was eaten by the beeshrimps. She turned out to be a he. Another "boesemani+preacox bastard". Body colored like a boesemani girl, but bright red fins, pre...

Re: look what i found!

Time for an update. The big girl really regained color. Nice satinblack stripes, orange fins with a good black inside and a darkyellow, almost tan, bodycolor. Not skittish anymore, but she still doesn't show herself much. The ease of fooddelivery to her cave makes her lazy i guess. The small o...

Re: Clown loach Temperature

Over here, the heaters are switched on together with the daylight lamps, around 13:00. Temp in the afternoon is 26°C/79°F. A little higher on hot days. Daylights and heaters switch off at 21:00. In the morning, temp has slowly dropped down to 23,5°C/74°F. I started doing this when i lost some fish a...

Amazing work. Is this your job? Must be a lot of fun doing this.
As said before, wonderful photos and comments. I also loved seeing the snowmonkeys and the shinkansen and the views and ofcourse the fish. Hope to visit Japan some day.

Re: Loach is feeding up top of tank??

But they can read feedingtime from a nearby clock, to go and wait near the surface for the first bits of any food. :P Yoyos are very inventive in getting extra food. One of mine goes around checking every feedingpipe above the water. When he sees bits stuck in it, he paddles himself out of the water...

Re: Growth Rate & Shoaling

The not-shoaling is normal. Small clowns dont seem to be thinking of eachother as mates. This will improve with age. the bigger one cant play or fight or dance wirt the small ones because they probably havnt learnt such behaviour yet. is the big one not eating or dont you see it? Does he have caves ...

Re: What to do with a tank?

Did see the sids there, thats why i mentioned them. i actually work in amersfoort and hilversum. The shop in hsum is closest to work, so i have never been to utaka. I might ha...
